  1. Hi Jim, not sure what it does bit be sure to clean the castellations on the tetorqursting cockle washer when we you fit it! My mate didn't, and his wife was upset with the noises and smell emanating. Seriously tho, are you messing with the hydraulic circuit. If that "cavitates" then you could ruin the pumps and motors as it means to suck in air!
  2. My Isuzu Rodeo is now five years old and has covered 250,000 miles almost fault free. In one week the front section of the exhaust has failed, the battery has died and she has sprung a few oil leaks! They don't make them like they used too! Incidentally, the front section of the exhaust has a short flexi section - which is where it failed. From Isuzu, I was quoted £571 plus vat which includes my high mileage discount! (plus fitting and gaskets). One from from a breakers is a cool £80.
  3. Are you sure that the fuel solenoid is working properly and that the fuel rack is opening up when the solenoid works? It sounds more like a fuel delivery problem and not an electrical problem to me. If you think it might be compression issues, then do a compression test. Was it running very roughly when it last worked? If it had a dropped valve then the engine would sound very different and you would feel the lack of power.
  4. If you want to get into tree work then I'm afraid that graft and application are the only thing that works. Get out the yellow pages and ring everyone listed. Get on the computer and start looking at the jobs advertised here, arbjobs, earborist. Then consider Horti week, Forestry Journal and other trade magazines at their "sits vac" Good luck with your search, hope you find something.
  5. Tom and myself emptied the garage floor, cleaned up the mess, swabbed with disinfectant and had a throw out to boot! All back and good now. The STWA people came around and it was reported that we had 13cm of water in an hour or so with 9 houses in Shepshed with flood damage. The hail was reported to have damaged a couple of cars and several conservatory roofs etc in the town. They also said that it was very localized in that only Shepshed, Loughborough, Barrow on Soar and Rothley got some damage. The hail has got most of the blossom of the trees and an awful lot of leaf matter, old seeds etc have come of the trees and many people have had decent plants in the garden really shredded!
  6. Prison issue? Too much time on their hands? Why do people do have such things done to them?
  7. Was tempted! But for all of 2 seconds. That old tractor is a piece of motoring history I'll have you know! Cheek of it..................
  8. I've had my Hot Rod insurance with them for the last two years, and they have consistently cocked up! On the whole, they come across as an inept bunch of people. I don't really look forward to renewal and I would hate to have to make any kind of claim! Nightmare!
  9. Years ago, a lad who worked for me as a labourer, was out in the night illegally on farmers fields and had jam jars full of old coins and stuff. I've tried it on the beach and found a tin foil pie dish and a £1 coin!
  10. I'd been at the skool of life for 8 years by then:sneaky2: Ah, 1990, I remember it well but wish I knew then what I knew now..........
  11. How did you do that?
  12. Good Luck to you, I hope and I'm sure that it is the best thing to do.
  13. "Pottering" in the garage - tinkering with the toy car. Having a good time with the kids when they visit. Cooking a good meal. That first pull on a pint of Stella. Doing someone else a good turn.
  14. Other Vehicles | eBay UK Might be good for spares as they are rare now!
  15. Due to the nature of PTO chippers, I don't know of one in a general hire fleet that would be available for the day. If it was long term (1 year), then it might be worth a company adding one to their fleet. But one day is not worth doing. Hire a road tow and drag it into the woods with the tractor or rent a tracked machine but again the hire rate would be dear as one day is not really worth having. Good Luck with your search.
  16. Second that! A lot happens within the services that the general public do not get to hear about and goes unsung and, after a time, forgotten. We should remember them more often rather than on a few days per year.
  17. That engine had serious issues on the 352, lots of broken internals etc. Many people think that the constant movement put pressure on oil flow which lead to some failures but that should not stop it from starting. Is the fuel rack opening up, is fuel getting through to the injectors?
  18. I did used to know of an LA who fleeted up with LPG, the lads hated it! Drop in power, reduced mileage between fills and hassle getting to the right station. Half the time they were left on petrol! EA run some of their fleet on LPG as well and they could only use one brand of garage so they were constantly going out of their way to fill up. Some years ago I ran a 4.2 Range Rover and it beat the newer shape RR with BMW diesel power for grace, pace and economy! You can't beat a V8!
  19. It happen soon after 18:00 this evening! Apart from one patch, the water has disappeared apart from that which is in the garage:001_huh:
  20. In the Shepshed area we have just had a down-pore of biblical proportions. My garage used to flood until the council came to fix the drains. I knew within a couple of minutes of watching out of the window that it was time to get a brush to push the water away but gave up after 5 minutes. Had about 4 inches of water in the garage to clear up and I'm in the middle of an engine rebuild so there is bits everywhere just to add to the fun. Hailstone the size of marbles fell which made being out in it painful too!
  21. Great one that! Where in the country did he come from? Ely?
  22. I've tagged my kids phones so that I can see where they are:sneaky2:
  23. Sara ramps. Google it!
  24. Used in the Godfather films.
  25. I've a reversing sensor on the back of my Rodeo, its called the towbar! Dead handy in carparks too!
