  1. of splices???? lots... what do you want Zing it Jamie
  2. i'm assuming they took one axe stone or whatever metal tehy had and chopped a lot until it fell down. i'm asuming the earlier back you went the less fancy they got. maybe look at indigienous tribes in rain forests as well. i'd say they would be a good example. (just don't look at the tribes with petrol and chainsaws or any type of saws) Jamie
  3. s**t man thats crap. when i was a student the idiots from round the corner decided to come and trash our house (they were meant to get the house 2 doors up), there was seven of them to me, my lanky flatmate and his lady. the guy over the road called the police but gave the wrong address 3 streets away so the police went there. it took teh police 4 hours to come and see us. we got them on video but teh police said they wouldn't be charged as they had a long enough record already and they didn't want to hamper their chances of getting a job. all of this happened on the evening of my last two exams in third year. we spoke to our landlord (letting agent) who came round with his 'handyman' who was a local and he went and knocked on doors and 'explained' that they got the wrong folk. we moved pretty quick though. Jamie
  4. i had to butcher a tree on friday, roadside in edinburgh, the guy wanted it out and his wife didn't. it was suitably butchered. there were some hung broken branches that needed taken out but it was a old oak and it should have been left. apparently we are being asked back next year to prune it again. madness Jamie
  5. I have some ISC mongoose on my side Ds big and chunky and i use some HMS on my front rings. Jamie
  6. I always use yales whiplock, i much prefer the aesthetics of it to a standard lock stitch (like samson use). while some folk (nick from the treehouse included) use 'invisible' lock stitching i prefer the whiplock as i can easily inspect it and you can see it's there. for 24 strand ropes search for Yales industrial double braid instructions (throughout the instructions it refers to double braided ropes with differing numbers of strands). before moving onto a 24 strand climbing rope maybe play some more supple ropes, yales double esterlon is a much easier rope to splice. i don't know about other 11mm 24 strands are like but Yales blaze requires a lot of effort to milk it in.
