  1. sounds good, from what i've found in the past through other ventures is people always pipe up but never do the leg work to back up their complaints. next one i say should be in Edinburgh, somewhere central like teh meddows. JAmie
  2. i'm always cautious round our mulchers. i was getting a bit complacent oneday when a log about 4 meters long and 12" diameter was chucked under it and out the back past me (i was about 30ft behind it). Jamie
  3. are those gaiters i see sticking out the bottom of the new 'uns? Jamie

    Pancakes

I used to have pancakes for breakfast every day, either maple syrup, occasionally golden syrup. i tried nuttella once or twice but it was to sickly (i know i know, golden syrup is sickly too). Jamie
  7. Thats a U900 with a 10" farmi on it. thats the 'wee mog', the 'big mog' (see what we did there) is a 1600 with crane mounted over the rear axel into a bucket on the front. the trailer has an 8" TP chipper on it. as you can see the trailer is old. We cleared the banking of the knackered old trees and re planted after grinding. oh and yes it was just opposite Meddowbank (between london and lower london roads). I'm sure we were paid well for it, as long as my cheque gets paid i'm happy. Jamie
  8. my 'downhill' rig. i clocked myself at 52 going down the south side of Clisham on harris. oh and in that same set up (minus the paniers) it did the XC and 4X track at fort william.....and i passed people:scared1: Jamie
  9. had to stump grind ona banking, the grinder was craned into place and off i went Jamie
  10. A wee Canon 350d, stuck on my 70 - 200 f4 L USM and a combo of extension tubes. I was trying to keep the background a wee bit out of focus to create that tiny landscape. Here is birch polypore taken with my 20mm f2.8 USM. anyone adding any? i'm sure there must be some photographizers on here.
  11. A lichen on a hawthorn. The lichen ones i'm not to keen on, the others are like mini landscapes. Jamie
  12. that's not how you do it???? Jamie
  13. More Lichen on a birch not happy with the grain, ach well back out to take more at the weekend Jamie
  14. posted this else where but here it is again Jamie
  15. Ha ha ha ha ha Bolt looks good Jamie
  16. Went a we photo mission today, stupidly i forgot to change the ISO on my camera, they were all taken at about ISO 400 sp they're a wee bit grainy:thumbdown: A tiny lichen i thought resembled a tree Some Mushrooms (what are they anyone?) SOme mosses Jamie
  17. if we are branching into other insults chucked at us by the public, i was called a barbarian the other week. taking out a poplar that was past it. there was a crows nest up top. I was informed that birds nest in them.....in february. just need to buy a loin cloth now Jamie
  18. makes a 200t look like a toy. Jamie
  19. There should be some means of demonstrating competance in splicing. Manufacturers are not the sole preserve in the splicing world and it is not the dark art that many seem to presume it is. LOLER inspectors should have a basic knowledge of rope splicing, otherwise how can they accuratly assess the condition of the splice. I can splice, i've had some splices broken by the MoD (through Mainbrace Marine in Rosyth, outside Edinburgh). I got these splices broken as i had radically altered the guidelines on teh specific splice. I have kept records of how i spliced the cord and have kept the destruction testing. To my mind that is the basis of conformity and a proven record of competancy. Nod, you are leading the development of this, right? Jamie
  20. i knew it being a screwgate would be a problem, i have mates that use them (rock) climbing but i always use 3 ways on my belay. the revolver seems like a good idea, never seen one up close though, how effective are they Jamie
  21. if you must use a carabiner how would one of these work for you? jamie
  22. at the cross over on 16 strand i always taper it down a bit past what i think it should be. i'm not a fan of doing it. i much prefer doublebraids Jamie
  23. if its not to prominant a branch can you remove the branch too??? Jamie
  24. practice practice practice. different limbs are always different, sometimes you can swing back in safely, sometimes you just have to suck it up and balance, try other foot placements Jamie
  25. Carl, my blaze splice in that pic was from years ago, I gave up trying at the throat and whiplocked it there, it's used as a slack line tensioner now. When i've spliced blaze recently it's been a throat whiplock. Oh and make sure your frapping turns don't cross and twist. doubt there is much structural concern but it looks better and shows attention to detail. Jamie
