  1. how about this, bet these folks aint 'harry Hoofters' [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yr3npyxj7u0&feature=channel_page]YouTube - Daredevil Gymnastics[/ame] check out the scene at 7 mins exactly Jamie
  2. my ropeguide and a wedge. i also have a petzl spatha knife and a couple of retrieval balls. anything else gets added later. Jamie
  3. I go to the gym at the local climbing wall, generally 45 mins of gym then 45 mins of bouldering. i'm yet to find anything gym based that works contact strength. I much prefer the idea of body weight excercises over dumb / bar bells (well apart from squats and dead lifts, they are cracking weight exercises) i should really stop wasting my time on weights and try this guys work outs. i don't do the gym enough to put on pointless over sized muscle. Jamie
  4. well done that man. Jamie
  5. i use a double slipped doubled reef knot every day. Guess the application Jamie
  6. wow what a tree. (the second one) The first oak.....makes sense to retain it. as long as the person/people who are footing the bill appreciate it and it's safe then it's not a waste of cash. it looks odd but at least it's being retained. are there more trees going in to maintain the landscape. It's a shame large old trees are felled, we should manage them to allow them to grow old as gracefully as they can. Jamie
  7. Yeah:001_cool:, i'll be through tomorrow morning half seven ok? Jamie
  8. flail it/ mulch it Jamie

    Work breaks.

stop at breakfast at half ten then lunch at half twelve for my piece. Jamie
  11. i'd say its the don't care attitude. i've been told before that the 200+ year old beech is in the way of that new 5 bed house so can you just get rid of it / hack one side off. Jamie
  12. Did a small tree for a friend of my mums. they said they wouldn't pay me but i'd get a free takeaway from his indian takaeaway. thats a bit tight, i thought till i realised teh tree would take 10 mins (including time to talk, fuel a saw, tie my boots and take down the washing line). well after a long hillwalk i decided to go and see my debtors and collect payment...it was well good, next time they can deliver. like my sig says i will work for food:001_tt1: Jamie
  13. Even i've heard of the Burnham beeches and i'm from edinburgh. we're still hooked up to an excercise bike to power the compter. lol Jamie

    Timberwolf

The other week i used a tracked timberwolf a 6" tracked jobbie and i was pleasantly surprised by how chompy it was, i was expecting it to be quite crap. i'm used to a 10" farmi and a 16" heizohack so something that 'small' was a bit of a shock. once i realised i couldn't jam big bits in i thought it was quite good. i liked the control buttons Jamie
  16. Gorgie was my second thought. i was trying to place the tenaments Jamie
  17. shrek:- crane on teh big mog steve, the road was a bit thin and rather than smash it up we roped it. the back stems were dumped out. the second tree i'm not 'proud' of but..... well..... Jamie
  18. we have two mogs quite often, there was a lot of wood in that stem. it didn't narrow much all the way down. Best job was two mogs and the MBtrac 1500 skidder Jamie
  19. that was 8 words and 1 number Jamie
  20. Here are some recent jobs, the first was a removal the second was a prune The first two pics are a before and halfway through pic of a tree i did last week, went up roped the top out and was back down for 40mins of chipping before lunch (went up at half nine). All the tops were roped out at the big crotch onto a 24mm 3 strand rope, all natural crotched, just to prove you don't need fancy gear to do the big stuff. This tree was just to be pruned. it had slipped down the banking from vertical to the position below as it was being underwashed by the river. i went up and dumped the top out. it was well out the way. the owner wanted a bit of a tree left. bish bash bosh (god thats a southern phrase) top off head burnt and ropeswing made for afternoon fun. no pics Jamie
  21. is that newington somewhere? looks fun Jamie

  23. Hey all, first up it was good to bump into you Tom and put a face to the name. I won't be able to make Saturday the 9th during the day. i promised my girlfriend i'd take some pictures at her running club race in Penicuik. I said i'd do a mini splicing workshop. i can't go into too much detail due to time constraints. i can show folk how to splice 3 strand (a very uselful skill) and how to splice tenex and make whoopie slings. both require very little specialised tools. if folks want to buy some 12 strand hollow braid rope (tenex, yalex) and some 3 strand you can take some useful rope tool home. i'f anyone wants to make a whoopie tell me how long (in a PM) and i'll tell you how much rope to buy and what gear you'll need to make it. Jamie
  24. looks good, sanny you're fussy and only drink Bud!!!!!! i'm fussy and won't touch the stuff. lol. a fiver sounds good for food. i'd like to try a lockjack. the local suppliers i can think of are Alpha plus in Livingston who else? Jamie
  25. my first entry, similar to Barts but with a more native twist:001_tongue: I saw a gutter full of syc samplings thought about going back to get the photo then saw his:thumbdown: Jamie
