  1. I've got an old canon EOS 350d and i'm still happy with it (i'd love to upgrade but it's still going strong). As the saying goes, you 'cannae beat a canon'. In all honesty i'd say that the differences between nikon and canon will be so small. i do like how the nikons have a seperate jog wheel for aperture and shutter speeds, but i do find their shutters overly noisey Jamie

  8. IRATA requires a log book scheme to progress up the ranks, do you have to keep records of training and hours logged for the ISA stuff? Jamie
  9. that multi-stemer is huge Jamie
  10. Innerleithen is well good a long peddle up but fun on teh way down, are you doing glentress as well? Dawyck is really nice, some big trees there, nice views up the tweed valley. theres a little panorama i took, i was cloning out some rabbit wire round a few new trees and i need to finish the pic off, Jamie
  11. all i posted wasn't of any great loss anyway. i'll repost it again. Jamie

  13. It's a big padlock to lock their bikes to it, they'd be much better on that fence in teh background Jamie
  14. I'm sure you've gathered you're to get a lifeline, time to time i don't use one when chunking down that last few feet, but that's not to say it's good practice. Jamie

    Outer Hebrides

that was after a 61 mile cycle. While in the bar at Lochboisdale hotel i asked the lassie behind the bar what there was to do. She said drink here, go to someones house and drink or drink in the other pub, the locals pub. I asked for directions and was ''told go out the door, round the corner and go in the first door you come to and i'll be through to serve you''. I went through and met the trucker from my post above. not doing Barra, working up from South Uist. Last time i was there i got drinking with a guy from Stornaway he kept buying me pints (i only managed 6 after a 60mile cycle) he had 12 and 12 wisky chasers, the local bobby waved him off as he got into his artic and drove off into the night. Jamie

    Outer Hebrides

Those are some from my last trip, it's stunning up there, my good lady even suggested swimming off one of the nice beaches (Traigh Lingeigh) oh and i thought you'd be the first to reply. i thought i'd have some replies from a few of the more enlightened members. Jamie
  18. My fine lady and i are away in a week for a trip up the Outer Hebrides. I'm sure some folks will have some must sees and must dos. I blasted down tehm 2 years ago on my bike but never really stopped much. We plan to stop and walk the hills on South Uist and Cliseam on Harris. Any other suggestions Jamie
  19. i find for all your milking needs on any climbing line the best way to milk your rope is just to use it. it'll milk slowly over time and use and save you going out your way to milk it. Pay attention to the tail of the rope and as excess milks off tape and cut, Like has been said before Samson ropes tend not to milk much, Yale tends to milk, i've been told Marlow milk badly Jamie
  20. looks good, we had a tigercat working along the road from the yard, i never got round to going to see it though. Jamie
  21. I believe there is some firm with a 'T' and a 'D' in the name, just get them back and fly tip a load:001_cool: He won't mind......honest:001_tongue: jamie
  22. Ok, i'll re-word my question, if i was to gently extract the whole ear defender / visor unit from my husky lid would it carefully fit onto the stein lid or would i be looking towards a new set of ear muffs Jamie
  23. do the stein helmets take the husky / balance style ear defenders? Jamie
  24. Just finished watching two of the natures giants series on channel 4. pretty good viewing, bit gorey as they cut em up. The show answers some questions about how the animals get by and what evolutionary developments take place. I never knew some whales have testicles that can weigh up to a ton, or the nerve that controls your larynx passes your heart first. Jamie
  25. It's a safety feature but no point in abusing it. sure i can check it works but why put all that stress on the saw unnecessarily? It's rare that you need to slam it on, let the rev's wind down then click it on. Jamie
