Why would you cut near your feet?

as above, im after some loading ramps so i can get the skid steer up on the back of the tipper. the machine weighs roughly 1 ton recomendations please, not looking to spend mega bucks many thanks

how many of them a poor at compatmentalising decay? not many i reckon oaks beech sweet chestnut maybe, but tulip trees, poplar, willow, horsechestnut, birch will rot out
