  2. Cerne, do you think your time working under the command of the government has changed your opinions in relation to all this population control?
  3. That's a bit negative don't you think gerit? At the least it could give an idea of at least 2 species it could be, enabling future research of both possibilities
  4. I've got a Marlow 12mm double braid line, it's very grippy which is great for lifting with my grcs but eats good quality rigging gloves for fun as its so grippy. Seems to glaze pretty easy as well
  5. Great to catch up with mates at the first show of the year. However poor show in my opinion and if my primary objective wasnt catching up with mates id have to seriously consider wether to attend next year. What was the score with the two fields thing? Probably one of the daftest moves by the organisers ever I can't see how long the show will continue to run for if this is going to be the standard from now on
  6. Red It's good to be seen
  7. there are various peaks and dropoffs. drop offs indicating decay and high peaks indicating areas of very hard deadwood. the tree was drilled at 4 points n,s,e,w, and all at a height of 10cm personally im dubious of the intensions of the survey
  8. measurement height was 10 cm, dbh was 105cmmm and depth was 39.8cm
  9. as above ive got some resistograph printouts from an Oak ive been to look at, ive little experience with the resistograph and im trying to work out what the results are really saying. ive contacted the company who undertook the survey, who have so far been less than helpfull. the trees owners put in at app to fell the tree on the basis of the results ,but the LA responded that there was insufficient explanation of the results to warrant felling does anybody have any information regarding interpretation of resistograph results
  10. Standardised layout, then Cut and paste the appropriate stuff. Easy peasy
  11. i send a written quote for 90% of the jobs i look at, and specify everything down to stump height, grinding depth, what size stuff will be removed on a reduction etc
  12. usefull stuff, thanks
  13. got a fair bit of driving to do in the coming months, and could do with another vehicle for quoting surveying etc so im considering the above what are they like to drive, fuel efficiency etc cheers
  14. im after some sort of quotation pad that can produce duplicates. these arnt to give to the customer, more something i can file in an attempt to make my diary and recording of enquires more organised who do you use? cheers john
  15. capel AA justins APF going to be a good summer
  16. My Mazda single cab has been awesome, w reg bought it for 3.5k with 100k on it, I've put 50k on it in the last 4 years. It didn't have a service for the first 30k. It gets serviced once a year now and gets fixed when it needs it. It's had new shocks, leaf springs and a rear diff but for the work it does and has done I think that's pretty good. I basically built my business with it before i bought my tipper and will never sell it as it's so handy useful I subbed plenty in mine and you can easily get climbing saw, big saw rigging and climbing kits in the passenger seat/footwell It tows my timberwolf ok, but struggles with heavier stuff a bit as it's non turbo Awesome truck, I'd by another tomorrow
  17. haha good video rob. i love the bit when the music stops as the loaders moving the loader is aboxer 427
  18. good vid mate, is that the oak from lymo?
  19. blue tongue is far easier to grip in the wet than tachyon. i had the misfortune to climb on a hank of tachyon in the rain a couple of weeks ago, decended and came back up with an old hank of arbormaster
  20. marty? i might be able to give you the odd day here and there if your happy to come over on the ferry
  21. it seems to me that people are finding problems that dont really exist, ie redirecting being the major one it seems do people not plan a route through the tree using Ddrt. I often redirect though crotches and retrive my gear by pulling it back through the crotch by pulling the tail of my rope. i thinned x2 oaks today and at no point did i think it would be easier on a srt workpostioning system. i however accessed both trees using srt
  22. if they cant grasp the concept of how a throwline or cambium saver works after a weeks training they shouldnt be in the industry
