  5. Yes indeed. Why do people in this industry get so obsessed by legislation, when time after time its proven that banning something simply does'nt work? Last thing I want to see is someone in HSE who's never even used a chainsaw deciding that certain people cant buy them. I could'nt give a toss about cowboys or pikeys. If they impact your business that badly, find something new to do.
  6. It was to do with the structure of the road and the time taken for the closure. He had a giant manlift in to do the cuts and set the ropes. The trunk and top were big enough to straddle the road leaving no damage to the surface.

  13. 6 cubic feet maybe - no way there is 6 cubic meters of wood on that truck, nor would a transit be capable of legally carrying that weight.
  14. I would. I have worked with a few others on arbtalk that could do that, and there are some that I have'nt seen but could lay money on them doing it. But I know a lot of climbers who could'nt, or might barely do 1 tree a day. It takes a certain kind of climber to confidently drop big tops off in one, quickly and efficiently. Lack of the fear gene helps.

  17. It was nice to see the concern the safety guy had for the Faller. His priority was safety, not production. Also, the climbers that had driven 2 1/2 hours to site, the safety guy cancelled the work because the air ambulance could'nt fly in. Totally different to the Oregon fallers in Axemen, where production came above all else.

Same here. 2 bottles of single Malt to contract managers, another bottle to a good client. 3 Bottle's of Bubbly to the girls in accounts at my main client (my cheques always come through first, thanks girls) 2 bottles of wine in thanks to council officers who've given us work. I look upon it as a small way of saying 'thank you - we look forward to doing further business with you'
  21. Anybody else notice the difference in the focus on safety between these Canadian crews and the American crews in Axemen? Did like seeing the 62 year old logger who'd had no accidents in his whole career.

  23. Ive worked on a lot of Iveco's, (owned a few too) and on the 7.5 tonners the only difference is he front bumper and spring heights. Mercs and Mans are identical. The differences you describe I've only seen on 6x4 and 8x4's.
