  1. HUSKY, HUSKY, HUSKY, HUSKY!:001_tt2:
  2. Yep, TCD is correct, the Perkins is a much bigger bonnet and a longer drawbar. A little useless information here, the 935i had 3 engines in total in its lifetime, mainly in the US the wisconsin(sp) petrol, and the two deisels mentioned. The deutz was air cooled and the perkins liquid. The perkins was the 50hp and the largest although the deutz was said to be slightly smaller hp but a reliable unit and lighter kgs.
  3. :beerchug:Cheers Nige, Vino and all that! Sometimes I do wish I wasnt a pre 97 myself, all that youth and vigour eh?
  4. Only just seen this, so here goes! Funnily enough, I do! Mine is the slightly newer 2004 machine, that is heavier and factory figures are 1850kgs dry weight. I believe its about spot on 2000kgs fueled up without spare wheel etc. The LDV is 5500kgs max train weight so can still get a nice heap of chips in the back LEGALLY. As said, makes travel a tad slow though! I would say thats about spot on, I however wouldnt sell mine for less than £6500, but thats just because I know that there is nothing else on the market that could replace it around that price. As for needing C+E, its a load of tosh! You will however need a trailer license to tow it if you are a pre 97 license holder.
  5. Raker, Im not saying you are wrong, I am sure there are some that do not seat correctly but as you can see in my pics, there was no problem with filter seating. Since fitting HD I have had no problems, therefore the standard filters are NOT upto the job.
  6. That crud was definately going through the filter on mine, and these pics were taken after only a few tanks of fuel. Heres another of what mine was like inside the defuser. You can see clearly here where the filter sealed on the housing; There could be a train of thought that this fine dust is "only wood" and would cause little damage to the engine due to low abrasive properties. BUT, it proves the standard filters are not adequate, and in the situation where more abrasive dust is present, this would definately shorten the life of the engine. Well worth the investment of the upgrade in my opinion.
  7. Is this just on your saw, or are you generalising? Mine definately was sealed correctly, you can tell by the dust spread on the defuser, and even see the clean area from the filter seal on the second pic;
  8. I can vouch, that saw is genuine and was one of stihls prototype saws.
  9. To be honest, this subject keeps coming up and it fascinates me. I was a late starter to climbing, and was over 17 stone at 33 years old, but never once have I found being heavy a reason for not climbing! See your size (and potential strength) as a bonus, there are many who can tip reduce an oak easier than me without snapping too many twigs, but not many who can dismantle a stem with a 660 and 3 foot bar as well as me. If you want to do it badly enough, while you are in the tree you will either disregard your size alltogether, or simply adapt your own style to suit. Dont worry about it, it sounds like you have the bonus of youth on your side too. Pete.
  10. Never bothered me much, but I guess you have no idea how much I weigh!
  11. That is a HOT saw! It turns out the weights shown on an earlier thread comparing it to the 200t (that I cant seem to be able to find) were incorrect. In the mumbo jumbo of pre launch information, in the comparison chart given was a picture of the 201t but in fact, the figures stated were for the 201 rear handle, therefore it appeared to be heavier than it actually is. These photos still dont give a true reflection of its weight compared to the 200t though, as there doesnt seem to be any weights when the saw was "dry", i.e, without bar and chain. The weights shown on the scale are in lbs so its bang on 5kg. Actually very similar to the 200t with bar and chain. (fuel and oil pending)
  12. Cheers for spending the time to let us all know Ian, it sure has helped me. Keep us up to date as time goes by, eh?
  13. But the law for a 3.5 tonner is 3.5 tons:confused1: If the law was changed to 4.5 tons, then it would be easy to say it wont matter if you grossed 5 tons?
  14. Good luck young 'un, nice to hear your grandad is supporting you. You deserve to do well, just make sure you enjoy it while you are learning. Keep us informed on progress Liam. Pete.
  15. 372 IMO. It was supposed to be replaced by the 575 about 5 years ago. That was rubbish so they launched the 576. Strangely the 372 is still available. Says enough for me, Husky still have not got the confidence to scrap it.
  16. You will never beat them Johnny, so dont try lowering your price to compete. Stick to your guns and accept they must be desperate and wont earn anything working like that. Let them get on with it and take the family out anyway!

  18. Nice one, looks like Ill be getting the pipe and blanking kit then. Whats the reality of the truck still passing emissions at MOT time with all the mods done, after all this is always the main "reason" for not doing it, so does it really increase immisions or will the engine be running "cleaner" once done?
  19. As Nige said earlier in the thread, Im looking into getting mine done. Ive managed to find a specialist quite close to us quoting £350 inc vat for a 25 HP & 40 NM of torque map. Very tempted as the guy says 20% increase in fuel economy is possible too(depending on driving conditions), but will see how it tows 2 tons of chipper & fully loaded first. Just curious, but you guys mentioned a EGR blank, and a de cat pipe. Will these mods run ok with the remap, and if so, should they be done prior to the remap or will it not matter?

    Safety Decals

    Is that totally legal?
  21. Thanks for the PM Keith, nice to hear from you. If its worth a comment to those thinking of buying this machine, I have seen it and bought kindling from Kaydee made by it. All I can say from a customer point of view, the kindling it produces is very well split and a nice diameter. "Ideal" comments have been recieved from my end users. The machine is sure heavily built, in fact I doubt newer stuff will be as well built. I can also vouch for Keith being an honest straight forward guy.
