  1. Another common one is to mix a liter of roundup with 3liters of chain oil, then pour on. I guess this would be fine as long as the roundup was purchased at B&Q:001_rolleyes: Crazy world we live in!
  2. If these details are correct, sod the husqy and the new 201, Im stocking up on 200t's!
  3. Nice story with your pug TCD. Only one i had was the 205 van, 1.9. Was a works van I was at and the boss cooked it. I bought it at 100k miles and rebuilt her. It was battered all round, not a square panel on it and many shades of blue. I brayed it for the next three years covering a further 60k at over 50mpg. Never put a foot wrong until i rear ended a stationary Omega when I was doing 60. I was trapped in the van but eventually freed by a passer by who was a little smaller than me, then got into the old girl, started her and drove it off the road. I am sure if it werent for this bitter end, that motor would still be running today.
  4. Nothing like it fella, enjoy her the best you can.
  5. Do they still recommend mixing with liquid parrafin? They used to, what a nice cocktail to have in your rose bed after a tree had been removed!
  6. Real chuffed for you fella, you got any cute pics coming for us?
  7. I have been a little spoilt with my LDV, its 2240kg fully empty, chip box, tool box etc. seems all others in its class are over 2500kgs. With kit and 2 blokes they only have around 600 to 700kgs payload. Not much IMO.
  8. Yeh, not disagreeing, just cant believe these guys sometimes. We seem to spend our time trying our best to adhere to all the legislation they throw at us but they keep supplying us with constnatly changing requirements and "grey" information, yet those who dont care will still do as they like without being policed. As you can apply something as nasty as SBK without any responsibility, is it all worth bothering with certs I wonder?
  9. This would be a great idea if only it was fully legal; .
  10. This totally goes against what i was taught also. I am fully ticketed, and had a visit 2 years ago from HSE after a report from a neighbour for storing agro chemicals without COSHH. I do not use commercial chemicals any more and told the two HSE guys this, and said I only use salt and SBK now as didnt wan tto be involved with the paperwork just for killing stumps. The reply they gave was that ANY application of pesticides/herbicides in a commercial environment needs COSHH and should be carried out by a licensed operator. Their words, not mine.
  11. Ive even looked into that Johnny. My problem is my yard is 40 mins drive from my house and i dont usually go there every day so would be a bind to collect the truck in a morning and take it back. 80% of my work is nearer to my house than my yard too, so the travelling issues would kill it for me thats without the hassles involved with the extra servicing and paperwork associated with O license.
  12. Nice one BillyJohn, cheers for that. Currently running an LDV but under powered to tow my chipper really. Looking for something like 125hp, will build my own chip box. Starting to look more like a tranny, but need to decide double cab or single and build a tool box. Sounds like the trannys have a few issues with clutches and starters too though so still undecided.
  13. Cheers, did look at the catalogue before but wondered if they just didnt put the saws in. Perhaps all the staff were offered them "cheap" prior to going into liquidation? Saws were only thing i would have been interested in. Glad i never went on a hope!
  14. So, was there any saws or climbing kit there?
  15. Bags (900x900x900) £60 hardwood delivered locally. Mainly ash, sycamore, cherry, beech etc. Very well seasoned (below 20%). Works out £80 cu m. Price has been same for the last 2 years so will be going up next winter. May sound like a big rise but was thinking of £75 per bag = £100 cu m. Where it should be IMO to be a comparative price to 18 months ago. There will be complaints I dare say but hey ho.
  16. Yeh, you need PA1 for handling so usually that includes transport. Also to add is COSHH records needed, detailing what chemicals were used where, and a seperate record of chemicals in store. Simple really.
  17. Matt, there is not a problem buying it, its application of pesticides that you need a ticket for. As you say PA1 & PA6. Edit; Private home owners can do as they like. If you are a commercial contractor carrying out works, you need a ticket to apply chemicals.
  18. I was meaning Mashall actually.
  19. Have you read through all 4 threads i just linked?
  20. I just tried it and got these; http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/firewood-forum/22575-moisture-meter.html http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/firewood-forum/17835-moisture-meter.html http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/firewood-forum/8107-cheap-moisture-meter.html http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/firewood-forum/3270-moisture-meter-firewood.html
  21. Think you would find you need them anyway, regardless what strength they are or where you bought them if you are carrying out the works as a contractor.
