  1. Gordon has just added to the pot with his fight against the shark fin trade. Horrific and almost unbelievable viewing, all for a bowl of soup.
  2. Sounds interesting, if an Iveco crew cab is as light as that, it is a contender for my project. What are the "capes" though?
  3. I doubt very much that is correct. I would have expected nearer 2.5tons or more. Could it have been 2.8tons? Sorry for asking about it, but Im trying to get info on different truck weights so the next one I build can carry as much weight as possible.
  4. I take it you are using it for firewood Dave, or have you got green fingers? As you know since loosing all our greenhouses and sheds in the snow, my Dad needs some cover for this springs bedding plants and I need a new place for firewood seasoning/storage later in the year. Still lots of glass to clear up yet though!
  5. Cheers Dave. How is the plastic holding up? Am i correct in thinking 10 years is about life expectancy?
  6. Would I be far out at £8k for mine?
  7. Now that looks a very nice truck, and something Im thinking of building as my next truck. I assume its a 3.5tonner? One VERY important question to me though, what does it weigh empty? .
  8. Thanks both of you. We have done a little searching for suppliers and Northern was one of the favoured ones we looked at! John, I am very interested in your offer of second hand structure. PM sent. If anyone has any other input it would be much appreciated.
  9. As title really, has anyone had dealings with a cheap supplier of tunnels for log storage and nursery plants? Ive had prices from a couple of suppliers but would rather have a recommendation. Also, I am more than happy to buy second hand frames. Would prefer the more modern, straight sided type but anything considered. In need of a minimum of 6m wide and 20m long to start with but multiples of this would be great. Many thanks, Pete.
  10. From what I gathered from the programme, you could follow the trawlers and pick it out of the sea, but could not collect it directly from the trawler as it was the catch of that trawler. Once thrown back in the sea, no longer belongs to that trawlers catch. A bit like the road kill law here for game, if you run over a pheasant and pick it up its classed as poaching, but if the car behind you picks it up its fine. However, if you were to land your catch that you have "salvaged" you need to meet the quota stipulations if you intend to resell. Hugh, was not intending selling on, therefore didnt need to meet the commercial criteria. I could be wrong entirely, but thats how I interpreted it from the programme. If I were to be honest, I'm not a great fan of Hugh but on this occasion I think he is certainly stirring things up for the better, so definately gets my vote:thumbup:
  11. Thanks for explaining Jammy, much appreciated. As the others said, theres no need to stop posting, especially if its because of what I said!
  12. Ok Eddie, I assumed you were still here. You back in Joshland now then? Lol! Have you got much work in front of you at the moment?
  13. Just had another think about these posts, and Im still not happy. I really dont think it is acceptable that someone who is not willing to "watch stuff like it" can still give a negative response. If you dont want to be involved, dont post. Evergreen started this thread with good intent, and if one of the mods would remove the negative posts, and this one for that matter, I think it would be for the best. .
  14. :confused1: You joking, right?
  15. Done it now thanks to your reminder. Been watching Hugh's programme and something really has to be done. Good of you to post.
  16. And Ive been thinking of buying one! It would mean selling the double cab though, so what is it worth, 2002, 83k and very clean?
  17. Why abroad Eddie, seems to be plenty of work around here?
  18. Not too interested really, but just seen this; Nissan Cabstar Tipper Pickup on eBay (end time 17-Jan-11 22:09:10 GMT) .
  19. We were stopped yesterday for REDUCING one! Another story i guess
  20. As I've grown older I feel I have become wiser, and one of the things I have come to realise is you either charge full rate, or do it for free and there will be a favour returned one day. No grey area. You need to earn a days pay, no point in doining it half cocked, or at a reduced rate as the other party will feel they have rewarded you fully and you will be out of pocket, either financially or ethically.
  21. Thats my problem Rupe, if i got to a decent tree job, there will be 2 or 3 of us in the cab(possibly dogg too), the toolbox will be full, signs and ladders in the back, towing almost 2tons of chipper. Somehow i doubt all this could be done with a cabstar:confused1:
  22. Thats where I may have a problem, my LDV single cab with chip box, and integrated toolbox is 2240kgs all empty. There aint many frills on it but its still very light, as is Rupe's and his has much more gizmos on it. So how much lighter are the tranny single cabs, anyone know?
  23. So where do you guys with cabstars put your gear?
