  1. Now we're talking!
  2. Same here, never had a job where the 660 couldnt cope, although I would like an 880 one day just for the mill. If you want you could always try skip chain on the 36" 660. Does make a difference.
  3. A bigger saving would be not to buy it in the first place! I know the old one so that will do for me. THEY have not informed me there is an update, so all i can do is carry on as i am.
  4. Cheers for the tips fellas, all good points. I see on some of the suppliers they do give a guarantee of 5 years so was hoping for a little longer as at my yard its quite sheltered. I guess once its up though, its not a big job to re-cover. Got your PM John so will be in touch. Many thanks.
  5. Yeh, nice one Jon, I realise it will be a few years old but is it still the standard shiney look or has it faded now to the grey drab colour?
  6. Sounds like you must have had a similar situation to me the Darren. However in my case i had evidence of this guy trying to charge VAT when he wasnt registered, and never did. The inland revenue are currently looking into it as it is classed as fraud and treat very seriously. Thats why i never mentioned any names. Not silly or childish at all in my case. Guess its another good reason to not go registered as can cause exra hassle. I personally wouldnt do it unless required as it fits my domestic customer circumstances best.
  7. Was yours one logs and one tree work Dave?
  8. I think Kev Stephenson had one reg and one not. He could possibly fill in the details Lorry:thumbup1:
  9. No. It would be correct to name names.
  10. Yes, but you need them to be totally seperate, and if combining such as machinery, fuel usage etc would be a nightmare. I think there are one or two on here who run logs and trees seperately, but think its a hassle all the same.
  11. I would say if your workload is primarily private work, with the present state of the economy going into voluntary VAT would seriously affect successful quotations. Then again, I know of a subcontractor that worked for me(and other companies but not doing much domestic work) claimed to be going VAT reg, hence putting his prices up to main contractors, but never actually did:sneaky2:
  12. Cheers Jon. You got any ply or anything stuck on the sides for brash/chips?
  13. The good ones dont stay on the market long though, mines too good to sell so its staying put now:thumbup:
  14. Oh go on then, if you insist................ How much does it weigh empty? .
  15. Very nice truck Johnny. Can I ask the same question as I ask the others?
  16. Never heard that one before!
  17. There are plenty of 35's with front end loaders AND double acting rear hydraulics. Like I say get to see a few of the more old school, more practical farmers/fitters and they will be full of info. Keep us informed how it goes:thumbup:
  18. See if you can find an agricultural engineer near you, they should be able to supply or point you in the right direction of the correct bits. Pete.
  19. :thumbup: What Chris says should work fine. I have a block like this on my splitter, same difference but on the machine instead of say the mud guard of the tractor say. Cost me about £70 and had a few bits of piping and fittings lying around;
  20. I might be in the market for one Jon, but i need to weigh up if the 800 mile round trip would be worth it to have a look. Pictures would be much easier:thumbup:
  21. I guess it hits home harder seeing a roughneck like Gordon Ramsey lost for words seeing the hammerhead footage. With some help, hopefully these high profile chefs can make a difference.
