  1. That about sums them up! Not sure what a good one is worth, but I have a worn out one on the shelf if you wanted it. Think it needs a piston at least and has no bar. I got it for parts for my 281 but never took anything off it. They are a heavy beast, I remember using them stem cleaning larch stands in the 80's. I now have shoulders bigger than Arnie!
  2. Bet they had to do that as there was a high risk it fell on someone:sneaky2:
  3. 25 years ago was an excellent saw! I would say it would struggle with a mill to be honest, unless you were only working with small mill. The AV's were never too great on them either, so combined with using it on a mill it would definately give you pins and needles after a couple of tanks of fuel!
  4. Nice tidy site you left there Johnny:thumbup1: Wont the windbreak be a tad mucky next time you take the girls camping?
  5. Quite reasonable, especially on the bar; https://www.gustharts.com/compatibility/search/results/?category=2&maker=husqvarna&model=1048
  6. Sure is a lot of loads in a season Nick, do you deliver yourself or one of your lads?
  7. Out of interest, what would you say that 5.2 cube load weighs?
  8. Liam, I always like to see your pics you put up, especially ones of your Grandad on the tools. Cheers for sharing. Out of curiosity, what does your Grandad think to the "newer" saws? I think its the first time Ive seen him with one in his hand! I take it its a 660 he's using there?
  9. Just got back off hols and found this Brett. I could put you on to someone reliable if other avenues fail. Let us know if needed mate, otherwise hope all goes well.
  10. So, if I do my maths correctly, you are willing to swap say a good 2-250 quids worth of kit for a landy? Good luck mate!
  11. As it seems no one "knows" the weight of that dumper, or the legal payload of the trailer, that argument should be forgotten. But, I feel the majority of you are missing a point about the strap. All this talk of it coming loose and its anchor security is not the issue. The position of the strap is! If you look at the angle of the strap, you will see that if the vehicle were to move backwards on the trailer, it would simply drive over it, regardless how tight the strap was.
  12. Red is still below 70p though and the trucks run fine on it:thumbup:
  13. For the record, I have recently gone over to Trust and they wanted proof of certs. BUT, they didnt pass comment on the age of them, and even if they did I would not be updating. On that score I guess Im with you Hama.
  14. Perhaps in reply to the OP, or the relative way the media have of portraying what they believe is important news, and perhaps just the fact that some people inflict harm upon themselves, wereas others have little choice?
  15. I wasnt going to post on this thread, but I have just had this posted on my facebook. Insensitive or not, I think it sums up how I feel; "Sorry if this offends but, yes its sad about Amy Winehouse or anybody that dies young or not happy in this life so poked the drugs up her nose, veins & throw drink down her neck & leave her poor family thinking wot the hell they could of done to help !!!!!!!!!!!! But did those children in Norway have a choice ................... RIP"

    Norway

Many thanks for starting this Jonathan, greatest condolences to all involved. The horror on the day of this is unimaginable to me, and the many directly involved will never forget. RIP the many who perished.
  17. Was starting to wonder if I was loosing it:confused1:
  18. As far as it goes, my night near perfect too. been out with family most of the day, got home, BBQ just for the three of us, silly games on the lawn, dogs in the pond, water fights and the little one was well made up as she stayed up an hour extra due to no school tomorrow:thumbup:
  19. Where has the rest of this thread gone? Is there a glitch as there was several posts here lastnight?
  20. There are certain organisations that are pushing for a complete "right to roam" on any privately owned land:thumbdown: Removal of property would still be classed as theft IMO though. .
  21. You are making me feel old now Ben, I thought set asside was a modern venture! Then again, it was in the 1990's when I came out of farming!
  22. Sounds interesting Ben, Cheers for explaining it. I was getting the scheme confused with a rype of set asside there was years back, where there was an area payment and the land had to be dessicated before a set date. This was during nesting season but turns out it was set during summer so that the areas could be checked via satelite as the field colours should be a different to those growing crops! Cheers for the info Ben.
  23. I see, so am I right in thinking this is a scheme that encourages the farmer to get the field "into shape" before the deadline of 1st of August, and that can involve spraying, topping, and general destruction of wildlife habitat so the farmer can claim the area payment? But on the other hand, you are not allowed to cut hedges before that date so hedgerow habitat is not affected:001_rolleyes: I must add, Im not having a go at you Ben, I sometimes find those who determine the deadlines have no real contact with the industry they are legislating!
