  1. Ben, in your pics did the breakdown stop you mid-cut? My old boss would have gone nuts for not sweeping the bed clear at an end! Nice bit of dust flying in pic 2:thumbup: Oh, and in pic 1 the reel is in too low:thumbdown:
  2. Possibly dryers humming then:sneaky2:
  3. Lock your doors as you drive through:001_rolleyes:
  4. In my own way, I am every weekend, but have to go to work in the week cutting trees as the part time chore doesnt pay many bills:thumbup:
  5. That was painful watching!
  6. Can it not be left as it is? At 25 feet it will have just about reached its mature height if there's not much competition near it. Any pruning/reduction will be either pointless due to rate of regen, or spoil the tree IMO
  7. Welcome along Joe, hope you get plenty from the forum. Real nice to see a youngster introduce himself in this way. I'm sure you will fit in well here, and sounds like you have a good positive attitude. Enjoy and good luck.
  8. Recently been Swedens best Bob, but the Germans are taking my liking this time:thumbup: EDIT; Hope I answered correctly, we are on a chainsaw forum aren't we:thumbup:? .
  9. There is another wee point to add Bob, sad I may be, but I do enjoy fiddling around with them too:001_huh:
  10. In all fairness to Bob, he possibly knows the saw! The saw was taken in as parts, but guess Im like you Spud I would like to give it every chance of running again but there are sometimes cost implications and reliability issues that can follow an older saw around. I'd like to think I had given this saw a final chance of living again before it gets 3 or 4 bits robbed from it then stuffed in a corner to gather dust!
  11. Ok, more good tips. Cheers fellas. As there is no rush, one step at a go then. First one seems to be acid so I can decide for definate on the pot, so either of you know where its available? The pressure test is worth doing at the same time then, is it something I can do with a few basic workshop tools Spud, or do I need to take it in?
  12. Cheers for the feedback from all of you, it appears the best thing to do is give Mister Solutions a call then:thumbup1:
  13. Sounds interesting, is it new? I know they will fit, but are they the same bore etc?
  14. Ever positive eh Dave? So you guys think it would need the pot then? I'd been reading somewhere on here about using hydrochloric to clean the deposits from the pot but cant find it again! My dylemna is, do I go for the piston and try and source hydrochloric, have the risks associated with using it and hope that will do or spend extra pennies. All this is of course, assuming there is nothing else wrong with the saw when this work is done. I do have a slight backup plan if the piston didnt work, as I need a piston for another identical saw, but it doesnt need the pot so Im slightly more reluctant to go for the P&P
  15. Here's one for Spudlike, or anyone else who cares to pass comment. Taken in this 036 as a spares saw that was said to have seized but then was freed to turn over. On pulling the pot I think we can say the piston has seen its last day, but what do you all think of the pot? Main thing is, it maybe worth trying a piston and cleaning the pot but if you think thats shot, perhaps Ill just break it considering any other unknowns. Comment away;
  16. Sounds like a good combo then Rob, mine's similar except I went for a 28" Winsor bar for my mid size. The 28" hardly ever comes off now, except for milling or anything stupidly big when I run semi-skip on the 36"
  17. Rob, do you have a bigger bar for it? I hope you didnt mod it just for pulling that chain length did you?
  18. Just read my post back, and it wasnt really too helpful! Spud is correct, it could be causing flooding, but also could be drawing air.
  19. I think this issue could be the problem and needs sorting before wasting any more time/money on other stuff.
  20. Too right Rob, unfortunately I called Daniel a few names on another forum a good time ago, and although I have tried asking many sincere questions since for him to share his knowledge, he chooses not to:sneaky2: Just the way it is I guess, but I would have felled that tree anyhow:thumbup:
  21. Only problem is, as Daniel has been on twice since I asked, I doubt he intends answering me:sneaky2:
  22. TBH, old school or not, any HD filter would be much better than the thousands of standard ones there are still around!
