Cheers for that Tom. I really would like to meet some of the guys doing this! Its a real shame also for the lads who bought the chipper too, they are just as affected as me. I wonder if there is any way e-bay can trace the seller? Time for a little thought now i believe............

Sounds like you are part of the way there then with the transport license. Can you provide proof that you tip at an authorised site? Like bridge tickets? It only needs a neighbour with a grudge to report you, or the EA to follow you (they do), and you will be investigated and threatened with a hefty fine. Not saying it doesnt go on, just not the best place to advertise that you do it, IMO.

Cant believe this, only just found you guys new posts on this thread! Shame is, the item has been removed now so i cant see the pics! Its deffo a scam as it didnt go to scotland! I will also ask Steve if he can remove the ad from classifieds. This is not on, i wish the ebay seller would make himself known to me. In person! Does anyone know if more can be done beyond reporting it to e-bay?

I think you may find this part of your quote needs more attention paying to it "the landlady has told me that she has a licence to burn from the EA" It is HER exemtion, not yours! The "waste" you are "transporting to her place" is "commercial", and she will not be allowed to burn "commercial waste" Do you also have a waste carriers licence for said waste?

Not sure where to put this without starting another thread, but thought i would share todays "moisture vs value" sighting; Today, we called in to a very high class garden center, just for a look round. This is one of those rustic type places that sells everything from a lawn mower and flower seeds, through to a deerstalker and a jar of £6 chutney. On the way out, i spotted a heap of various firewood, softwood, hardwood, kindling and coal, even smokeless fuel. On closer inspection, the hardwood nets were £4.99 each and softwood £3.99 each with approx 12 logs in a net. Pretty much what you would expect, but, there was no mention of moisture content, and in very bold letters on the labels it said 10kgs:cursing: Sometimes i feel we are fighting an up-hill struggle:thumbdown:

I am one of the "total free hand gang", and i dare say i can sharpen a chain better than ANY electric or guide type sharpener, but, on a long chain, when a metal is involved, i could almost give in to an electric sharpener:blushing: I would probably still give it the finishing touch by hand though:001_tt2:

you say a week, is that 7 days? I would say that sounds cheap to me. There is easily a chance of him putting 100+cube through it in that time. Equates to £3 per cube hire. Not a great outlay for him in my opinion.

I recon Lofty could do well out of this, and get rid of a large amount of his stock. So, if you now taking orders, I will have some of this FOC stuff too deano, but can i have 20 bags? I will be a trouble free customer and not ask tooooo many questions:001_tt2:

Sure mate, my post wasnt aimed at you directly, as i see from some of your other posts, you are more capable than some with a saw. You do have a point as far as anything "safer" is better, but i believe this type of terminology is aimed at the less experienced, and could lead them to believe its "safe", then there becomes a problem.

Did i call him dishonest:confused1: Ok, i will call him unreliable. He would be the guy, after asking all the questions he has, and being satisfied with the answers, would order say a "cube of seasoned below 22% moisture, ash logs at £80 delivered". The supplier would then deliver said load of logs, get them on the floor on his drive then, he would turn around and say "they are too big for my stove, im not buying them" Yes, unreliable, is how i see him.

In my honest opinion, there should not be a need for "safety" chain. If anyone is using a saw, they should have some kind of idea and training, ie, knowledge about kick back zones etc. Attaching words like "low kickback" and "safety chain" to a product as dangerous as a chainsaw can be a little misleading to the novice, or less confident saw user. And, of course, they dont cut well either!

I must admit, this thread has given me a certain amount of amusement, but the people who have criticised wansronian have based opinions upon all his threads and posts. He really was suspicious about his said supplier, but it seemed he was going to get a good deal. He went on to call many untrustworthy and dishonest, but yet himself, came on this thread three times saying he was going. But still came back. On that basis alone i would not like to deal with such a customer myself. So, if you do return mate(again), please take on board all comments (your own included), and seperate the the bits where people were taking the mick, the comments you were offended by(i feel initiated by yourself) and i think you will find, you got all the infomation you were after, for FREE!
