  1. They just don't last being thrown around in our game though i found. I wouldn't buy any but see if you can aquire 1 or 2 to try out for a while.
  2. You wouldn't want to eat that old girl mate !!
  3. Don't bother mate, i had some and the black plastic sections break off which slide over the cone. The also tend to get smacked about and blown around.
  4. Like Ed said we won't really know a thing till the HSE report comes out. News specially The Star FGS aren't known for there reporting abilities. Might not have even been hedge trimmings who know's, sounds like he dealt with it well though considering !!
  5. How am i supposed to work in these condtions !!!
  6. I have the Dragonfly and tbh for me with a similar problem to yourself i've found it to be great. The best thing you can do for yourself is build up core strength to protect your back. Climbing should help your recovery rather than hinder it if your sensible.
  7. I used to actively push this point of view at quotation point and had a folder with me with copies of certification and insurance. Some say overkill - maybe - but occasionally and especially on the bigger trickier dismantles i'd like to thing it made the difference.
  8. Quite correct and often overlooked by people who employ cowboys. If a householder employees an un-insured and un-qualified tree surgeon to carry out a task and it goes badly wrong they are liable. They will however claim against you in the event of an accident / incompetance.
  9. Yep Simon sounds like good old fashioned tree man stress to me ! When i was running my biz in Surrey I was usually awake at 5am every day or tossing and turning all night thinking about things that needed doing etc. You need to delegate as much as possible and trust other people to get things down for you or you'll go mad, I very nearly had a nervous breakdown. Now i just worry all night about things i have to sort out for Ed's firm lol !!
  10. Do it mate you won't regret it ! Gecko is awfull rope so stretchy, i won one once and palmed it off to 2 other climbers before it eventually got cut up lol
  11. Nobody would ever grow there business if you did that Lee.
  12. Hmm speaking from experience canal restoration can be a nightmare. Trying to get all the landowners to talk and agree. Thanks for the info mate :-)
  13. Hmm speaking from experience canal restoration can be a nightmare. Trying to get all the landowners to talk and agree. Thanks for the info mate :-)
  14. I thought the Lancaster Canal got cut in half when the M6 was built ? There was a big fuss about it as the IWA were keen on restoring it.
  15. Just get a cheap 2nd hand front linkage and carry the chipper to site on that. I used to be able to drop the trailer and chipper, stick the chipper on the back and reverse over the trailer in less than 5 minutes.
  16. Ed's been banging on about how wonderfull mini loaders are for years then as soon as you all see one in a back garden you get all excited lol. You can have one for less than the price of a groundie for a year. Run a two man team instead of three...these really are the future.
  17. Ah thaty'll be where you got to the another night when Lou said she was missing you
  18. There are a million ways to adjust and fiddle with the VT. Just get it so it works and then keep experimenting. PS you need a decent rope as well mate lol
  19. Just don't get Dean in to operate it or you'll have a MEWP shaped dent in the lawn to sort out as wel mwhhahahahah
  20. Means that when you've just got back up the tree after a break and the client comes out with a cup of tea for everyone you can pop back down for it and it's a 10th of the efffort to get back up
  21. That was why i got out. I was in a tied house on 9 k a year in 1999 ! Worked for Waverley Borough Council, The Basingstoke Canal Authority, and Surrey County Council Countryside Service which is now Surrey Wildlife Trust.
  22. That's exactly how i felt 3-4 years ago when Steve showed me how to do it online. Revolutionised my climbing, now you need a ART ropeguide and you'll feel 15 again lol
  23. Have you got some full contact details i can put onto our database for future use ? If you don't want it all up on here them PM me. Matt.
  24. A Blackhawk with a major engine issue obviousley due in for a show or something and nobody even considers getting the hll outta there ! Amazing that rotor didn't disintergrate and the pilot did a good job getting her down level !
