  1. I never ever ever hired out my chipper as the material is always badly presented and full of rubbish lol I did it once and never ever again........ruined a set of blades for a TP230 at 250.00 a set.
  2. No mate...21-28 a ton is delivered in... Take away the haulage around 10.00 a ton sometimes more, then the loading and you start to get nearer the 10.00 a ton mark. ------- The like of AHS and SHREDCO as aggregators obviously make between 2-5 a ton on the chip. -------- You will not be able to sell direct to large power generators they just will not deal with you. You could however search out smaller installations BUT this is where chip quality becomes more important hence the reason tree surgery chip or ARBO generally only goes to power stations. G30 is a 30mm screened chip with a moisture content of less than 30%. You will not achieve a G30 size chip with your average 6" chipper. Your chipper is designed for waste reduction where as biomass chippers as designed to produce a product and cost a hell of alot of money. Like most things there is a cross over in some areas with some chippers producing a reasnoble quality of chip. To many slivers or oversize pieces blocks the conveyers on some systems. Bascially your average tree surgeon is much better off selling there woodchip to the likes of Mrs Jones, golf courses and landscapers where they will get much better money. HOWEVER if you produce more than you can shift, have good access, a means to load 14' high lorries and just want the chip gone then a few hundread quid per lorry load is a nice bonus every now and then. The likes of AHS make there money because they shift about 3000 tons a week. Hope that's a bit clearer.
  3. Not quite sure what your on about there ! Tree surgery chip or ARBO as the power station call it is the lowest value wood chip. If you produce G30 to G50 spec chip with a lower moisture content and higher percentage of woody material they will pay more for it. However the chances are if you are producing G30 you'd be selling it to smaller installations anyway like industrial estates or hospitals an large country houses that will pay the best money. I've sold thousands of tonnes of chip to powerstations, I was pointing out the aggregators that are worth dealing with for the author of this thread and they are AHS and SHREDCO.

  5. I ment Ed and the loader dude lol
  6. Seem pretty good on side slopes mate, have climbed some pretty short sharp bits of ground with Ed's. If your any good on a machine you can get them pretty much anywhere.
  7. How many pictures did you take !!
  8. Yeah the Force 10 Atlantic Westerly winds have kept it nice and cool this week lol
  9. Look you kit junkie just admit your ill man and get yourself down to rehab first thing in the am...maybe combine it with that Yoga class
  10. Your pricing and timing sound pretty much spot on to me without seeing the site. Moving a telehandler around those coppiced stools though would be a complete nightmare. I'd consider using a small excavator with a re-handling or timber grab if you can source one.
  11. Looks like a right PITA to me ! Can't see the operation clearly from the operators postion, difficult to load the timber, and very expensive !
  12. Is the weather nice up there ? Dave, With the volume of timber in your yard and the facilities you have for bringing back big lumps I'd be looking at selling that lot direct to a firewood merchant. That should give you a nice little lump sum in your pocket ready for Christmas
  13. Pentland Biomass will sell on to AWJ, if it's good quality and close they will take it for their own plant but unlikely tbh as they have their own JENZ HEM 560 which the produce chip for their own needs with.
  14. Most power stations will be paying between 23 and 28.00 a ton for ARBO or crap tree surgery chip as we all call it !!
  15. FWIW Nearly all the major chip buyers sell to AW Jenkinsons, AHS are part of AWJ. SHREDCO aka Steve Owen will give you the best rate. 21.00 delivered in is rubbish unless you are close. IC Trees, play hard ball will Charlie or Neil they love it lol, push for at least 6.00 a ton not a penny less. For those who don't know I was a Contracts Manager for AHS before they made me redundant. AHS are middle men they pick up your chip stick it on someone elses lorry (usually Jenkinsons) for a fixed haulage rate and then send it into the powerstations. In the South of the country they will be getting about 10.00 a ton for the chip and from The Midlands North between 11-16.00 a ton so they have room to give you a bit for the sake of a few phone calls on their part. I prefer SHREDCO as they aren't tied into an expensive haulage deal and can mostly give you a much better rate for your chip.
  16. Google AHS recycling or Shredco an expect about 6.00 a ton.
  17. I wouldn't care mate, a long as I can survive I don't care what I do anymore ! I live in a beautifull place so as long as I earn enough to get by that's all that's important. At least I'm not handicapped with Ginger hair ;-)
  18. Dunno mate Tesco's is looking pretty appealing with the back pain I have tonight !!
