  1. Having had a fair bit of time on Ed's Multione i reckon they are excellent bits of kit for domestic work. I was amazed at what it will climb up and down as i'm used to driving much bigger equipment. That slope Ed posted the picture of me driving it up with timber on the grab was much steeper than it appears in the pictures and very greasy but she climbed out no worries with some 'enthusiastic' driving

All these stove manufacturers give the impression wood can be gotten hold of for next to nothing !
  3. I hope VOSA are understanding when you use that excuse lol
  4. Ask yourself do you really need it or do you just fancy the idea of driving around in a Mog ? Whatever you have to spend double it... Alex Price is the man, if you buy from him it will be alot more expensive than Atkinson Vos but there is a reason for that. Atkinson Vos can be very good if you know what your buying.. I ran 2 Unimogs, the first was great the second literally bankrupted me. If I had my time again I'd do my HGV and get a 4x4 or 6 wheel wagon. Makes far more sense and in the long run is cheaper to buy and run plus there's alot more choice out there. Mogs also work best in an owner operator scenario as the driver has a feel for the machine, cares about how it's treated and used and knows if something doesn't 'feel' right.
  5. Your one of his best customers aren't you Stevie ? ;-)
  6. I'll add to that Alec Price is one of the nicest guys I've ever met in this industry.
  7. What you need is a 130 tipper mate ;-)
  8. I don't anymore I'm afraid but Atkinson Vos will have it and give it to you begrudgingly lol !
  9. Best advice I can give you is burn it out an buy a lorry instead lol ! BC101uK on here is a Unimog knowledge base, there is also a mobile mechanic Ken Day who covers the whole uk and is very quick and usefull.
  10. Heh I'm no southerner I'm further North than you Cheers Charlie it's deeply unpleasant !!
  11. No mate and it's not allways the case, my mate did however. We are working in a very 'hot zone' for it and have been taking precautions but it's hard to avoid. I've had to batches of bloodtests now but am still waiting on medication due to carrying on working away. I wouldn't wish it on Dean
  12. Yep and I have it as does one of my workmates, weeing out of your backside and chronic fatigue but one of the many fantastic aspects of the disease !
  13. Exactly I feel if you want to work in this industry these days it's another ticket you need an another string to your bow. Obviousley I have a pre-97 licence lol ;-)
  14. Just do your trailer test, the majority of these companies just want someone who can take a transit etc out with a chipper on the back ?
  15. Defo a horsefly mate you'll be fun there's loads at the back of the site !
  16. What's with the gay avatar Peter !!
  17. Contact DRAX they will buy as much pellet off you as you can produce. Yes you can make pellet off of chip. Ed is the expert on this but he's away untill Saturday night.
  18. If it's allowed to dry and brown off yes.
  19. Have fun mate lol, I'm off this week I hear the onsite facilities have improved no end !
  20. Pelleting is the way forwards, it is the prefered product of many of the major biomass buyers. He is quite right that 160.00 per ton is achievable if not more. DRAX will buy as much pellet of you as you can produce right now. The advantages of pellet are clean and dry, much more energy per ton than chip, easily transportable and for the smaller installs automation is easy. Cannock Chase visitor centre and many other FC visitor centres have pellet boilers installed. Virgin wood isn't a problem as recycled fibre can be used if the power station has the correct emission control equipment. Your friend will do very very well.
  21. Botex at JP Wilson make one as well. Personally i'm not a big van of 3 point linkage cranes or grapples as they have a habit of shearing off if you give it to much stick which you will inevitable do. What tractor would you be mounting it on ?
  22. That is Sean Petty's from Roots and Shoots Tree Surgery near Woking in Surrey. I subbed out of his yard for all while. Big kit but cost him a small fortune and rarely if ever left the yard !
  23. SHREDCO - Steve Owen. Jenkinson Forestry Product - Andrew McFadden. AHS Recycling - Charlie. All will buy your woodchip off you at roadside. AW Jenkinsons and AHS Recycling are the same company so you'll have no joy playing them off against one another. I'd recommend Steve Owen from SHREDCO but that's only because AHS made me redundant lol.
