  1. Great idea Jason !
  2. Have you got any pics of it traveling on soft ground mate ? Really interested in watching your ownership progress.
  3. They are seriously friggin awesome though mate, i reckon you could bring material out really quickly with one. Would be excellent for conservation work sites as well.
  4. Ed your first post did come across a little dodgy LOL !
  5. You basically sell the asset you have to the finance company then lease or HP it back thus raising the money for the chipper purchase. However you are putting your other assets at risk so it's no recommended for large purchases. A chipper though with the money raised against a truck etc should be fine. Create a balance sheet to show what your business is worth to show the companies you are dealing with.
  6. Yeah bloomin horses ! Expensive LOL
  7. Great LOL
  8. Would have sunk into about 8 meters of peat
  9. Amanda Holden, Amanda Holdens Mum, Tony Hart, Eric Clapton, Kevin Peterson, Amanda Redman, some bloke from the Bill, Ron Dennis, Ron Dennis's wife's sister, golfer Darren Clarke (was there around the time his wife died, very sad), and loads more who i forget. One of the benefits (or not) of working in Surrey and Hampshire LOL. The nicest in that list were Amanda Redman and Amanda Holden.
  10. Fantastic machines, i looked into them last year for a Landmarc job, again price put me off but brilliant bit of kit. Look forward to seeing more pics mate
  11. Pulling your leg ? Ripping it off i'd say ! If anything the price of softwood has come down as the demand isn't is high due to the economic downturn. The like of Kronospan have dropped production and are paying far less for softwood at roadside than they were last year. They've even gone back on signed deals. There are a couple of suppliers in your area or as Ed says get in touch with us next month Edit - ignore me - just seen the price your paying which isn't bad tbh.

    Crampons

What he said, no way would i want to be moving around in soil on crampons with saws, i to have mountaineering experience. There's a technique to walking in crampons so you don't trip yourself up and learning that technique with a chainsaw is a bad plan lol You can get studded loggers boots as well which help. Have a search online.
  13. Mark seriously get in contact with Ed tomorrow, I can't believe the deals he gets on his kit, you have nothing to lose !!!! As another option look at asset finance i.e. borrowing money against kit you already own.
  14. Nice job and great pics mate
  15. Kevin phone Charlie at AHS they have some collection sites in Norfolk, I've checked my records but don't have Norfolk on file. I visited some site out that way I'm sure he could put you in contact with someone.
  16. Exactly I agree completly, i looked into this in depth some years ago when all my competitiors where growingvery quickly with grant money. Nick Hilton has played the game and got that roof mounted harvester but he has a very good relationship witht he FC and some grounds maintenance to prop up his turnover.
  17. That would b great for heathland clearance as well !
  18. My mates girlfriend has one, excellent little cars. I think Stuart Mcgregor on here has one as well.
  19. Another great video Reg
  20. I'm bowing out nothing more to add, I've owned or driven everyequipment equipment discussed and we are just going round in circles ! Matt look at what everyone else uses to extract poles...there will be a reason for their choice.
  21. A mog is to vunerable in the woods. I had two I know this. That's why I bought my Valmet. How ever a tractor with forwarding trailer as Josh suggests would be a great compromise as most tractors have a smooth underside. A mog adapted for the woods wouldn't be much use elsewhere and almost certainly you wouldn't want to be driving any distance in it even if it was road legal. At least this thread has given Matt plenty to think about lol !
  22. Ah BUT that wasn't what he asked in the original post Stevie lol I still think a Mog would but much to larger compromise in the woods but heh. For extraction as described i'd get the best tractor based forwarder you could buy. You'll get up the racks with that ok i reckon.
  23. I am not questioning you guys ! I'm agreeing with you and making an off hand comment that i couldn't have done what Stevie does in Hampshire. I'm well aware of the fact you don't use them for every job and neither would have I.
  24. Jees, that's not what i meant. Surrey and Hampshire is densely populated and the houses have very small back gardens in the main and / or hard landscaping so it would be difficult to get rid of the chip on site for those reasons. I'm quite capable of selling a new idea and drumming up new business and it's great it works for your guys but i wouldn't have been able to solely rely on a small chipper like that. However as i said i would definitely have bought one to add to the kit i had as it is a fantastic idea. I can see this really taking off over the next few years, i would probably bag the chip and sell it as mulch at a latter date.
  25. Yeah I'm only teasing, if i still had my own contracting business i'd definatly have one. Fills a niche and makes you more competitive. I have to say though i think your lucky how much chip you can leave on site, I wouldn't have got away with that much in Hampshire !
