    Rigging a spar

Nice work, like the cut off at the end did it tap the wall lol
  3. To true, I'm so fast you hardly ever see me up the tree !
  4. Fast climber ? does that mean you've underpriced the work
  5. I went to a new high end development about three years ago. Trees had been cleared that had armillaria. These were removed and stumps ground (!) some new fairly mature specimen beech were planted and all but 2 died due to armillaria.
  6. I noticed this spreading very quickly in the SE about 18 months - two years ago.
  7. Hmm, i have a barcode reader on mine but i suppose it would need the software to interpret the codes.

Ok mate, will go delete lol
  9. I find one stop courses and cheap finance allowed alot of small firms to pop up over the last 5 years. Truck on tick, chipper on tick, no experience and off they go underpricing left right and centre. Some survived, many damaged established business. TCD - I heard that recently when talking with a contractor, they can't get machine operators or saw men for oversized material.
  10. I wonder if you could set up a iphone to read the tags ? hmmm
  11. Computer playing up, -- It really does depend on the excat nature of the task, you might be better off with a tractor with forks and a beak if it's just for moving material about. Give us some more info and we can help more...
  12. What's your budget ? What is the exact task you are going to use it for ? How are you going to move it ? ---------------------- I used a 7.5 tonner on scrub clearance work for racking material up ready for a telehandler o shift to a fire, it wasn't very effective.
  13. Happy Birthday for yesterday Dave, hope you had a great day
  14. Sean !! how you doing mate ? trust all is well ?

    Matt.

  15. Operator error ! Check the ground and check again, a proper risk assessment should have prevented this. Very sad.
  16. I suspect AHS would in fact want paying to chip that amount now but i could be wrong. Give Charlie a bell and see what he says. I'd be interested to know if they are even still running a chipper as they have made 3 staff members redundant from that operation.
  17. Passed your HGV then Stevie ?
  18. Good advice there Ben, I to have done alot of tree work with telehandlers. The right one is very versatile, avoid cheap ex-site machines. The problem you'll have is that to get decent reach the machine will have support legs on the front which then become a right royal PITA off road. Your better off sacrificing reach for one of the fam based machines. I had a Merlo on trial and put a chipper on the back. It was a handful but very useful. Depending on your other requirements I'd be tempted to keep your tractor Ben and get a small tow behind platform. A wheeled nifty lift will be more versatile. Matt.
  19. Yes but Ed nobody comes close to your cavalier attitude to tree work LMAO
  20. Unimogs are good for arb BUT it's no good buying a cheap one ! 28k + Minimum I would say having owned two and I would speak to Alec Price. Do you 'want' a Unimog or do you 'need' a Unimog ? I bought mine because my yard had awful access, I did alot of small scale clearance work, and I already had a PTO chipper. IMO look at trucks instead for domestic arb work, a well thought out 12 ton wagon is a much better bet than a Unimog specially with a 9-12" chipper behind
  21. The were good saws, the older bigger versions vibrated you to bits though !
  22. Step back and think ! Are you employed in the industry already ? If not then then I wouldn't bother ! If you are:- How much money do you need to earn a month to make self-employment work ? Do you know local tree surgeons ? If not you'll have to sell yourself to them and build a relationship as a subbie. Therefore money won't be top wack to start with as you'll have no track history. Fill in some blanks and maybe some of the contract climbers on here wil pipe up and help you make an informed choice. It's very difficult to help with so little information !
