  1. Natural selection - the more of these idiots that knock themselves out of existence the better. Keeps the gene pool fresh lol
  2. He did look a 'Fairy' behind the wheel
  3. We had them (H14) on the LA in Surrey, brilliant winches, specially being able to drive through the gearbox on the PTO pack. Makes for a very powerful and controllable winch.
  4. Not quite what you wanted but it's in N Wales and it is impressive LOL It was like this all the way around.
  5. I rarely get my hand dirty these days Dave
  6. North Wales is absolutely inundated with cool trees like that. Will have to try and get some pics.
  7. Very very good work Matt

    Richmond Park

Great shots, thanks for posting. I used to goto Richmond Park alot
  9. Rymans is your best bet just off of Wall Island as suggested. It's round the corner from McDonalds. Failing that google James Tonk Tree Surgery, he has a yard close to that area. Give him a call he may help you out.
  10. Arborist site, thanks for showing me your unit yesterday mate. I shall be looking into this further ASAP. I don't want to spend big bucks as it's simply not needed. Any complicated or detailed tasks will be outsourced to you anyway
  11. Paragraphs Stevie, Paragraphs !! I have such fond memories of reverse feeding gorse into a chipper
  12. It'll be the self seeded re-gen they are keen to prevent. Sheep won't graze off the saplings, their pretty hardy little things.
  13. So those in the know reckon cut and chip or cut and burn. I agree that clearing saws are effective but it depends on the stem diameter. I found it very fatiguing if the stems are large with a clearing saw and not good on your back as your constantly swinging the cut stems off the saw blade.

    tree of heaven

I reduced one about half that size some years ago in a back garden with on access in SW London. Very brittle and snappy !
  15. Cheers mate, why i didn't think just to ask you i don't know lol ! Will see you tomorrow.
  16. Fine Andy I do look forward to your vast experience on this subject at a latter date Dave et all ta. Arbortrack was my initial preference. One of the other consultants deals with BS5837. I'll just be assisting my conservation clients with roadside projects.
  17. Not on a SSSI mate, method is more important than cost. Specially if it's HLS or HLF money.
  18. Lawrence, this was my bread and butter for years. The only thing that will be acceptable for the management plan will be chainsaw cut and burn or chip. It is a real ball ache but tbh once you have cut into the gorse face you can usually get to the stems of multiple bushes fairly easily. Best option then is to use a tractor with pallet forks and a beak to grab the gorse and take it to a central burn site. You know what a fan I am of big kit but on a SSSI this is probably the only option the Ranger will want / allow. I wouldn't recommend a mulcher as the amount of arisings to be dealt with later will be immense. Give me a call if you want to have a chat about it.
  19. SIP Progress are great trousers and i've had most of the others on the market. Very hard wear, comfortable and even slightly water resistant. PM Yorkshireman on here for a great deal.
  20. Nice one Dean. I hate standing next to winch wires though !
  21. I currently run some very basic software and am seriously considering upgrading to Woodplan or Arbortrack. Has anybody got any experience of these or would you recommend an alternative product. This would be used for tree survey work. I'm running a Dell Axim X5 Handheld PDA with windows XP. Ta.
