  1. Looks like a very handy tool in the right situation, ie commercial felling. One man and saw getting lots of trees on the ground with minimum fuss and kit.
  2. If you can get free cummins engines put me down for a nice euro 5 straight six, about 300bhp, for my 18 tonner!
  3. You dont have to tell them about the VAT unless they specifically ask, if they ask if theres any vat you just say "no is no vat on top of the price". Just put all your prices up already including the VAT. If they want a receipt then you will need to itemise it, but if they have a reciept there is no knocking the VAT off for cash either.
  4. Just tell your customers you have run out. Next year they'll order sooner and pay more.
  5. Good luck with that, its going to be scarce and expensive. Fresh mixed hardwood thinnings delivered in are fetching £55 per tonne plus VAT around here.
  6. This one?
  7. You can get bigger ones. Just have to watch it doesnt eat into your payload too much.
  8. The safety technology unit is designed for rope access industries such as wind turbine maintenance and utility work where money is not really an object..... safety technology
  9. I thought Skyhuck put it quite mildly. This is harsh: Employees = Leeches
  10. Hold out for a 090 then....
  11. The guy that does my hgv inspections has an old toyota pickup with a 4.2 straight 6 engine, got it off ebay for £1800, liked it so much he bought 2 more, one running and one scrapper as spares. No idea if it would fit your landy but its a lovely engine, you can pull a house with it.
  12. Since it was the engine that was on fire, probably not the best choice for a transplant!
  13. I am not really familiar with that model, but it has been out of production for a goodly while. What do you want the saw for? If its to work on a daily or even weekly basis, do your fingers a favour and buy a new one with decent AV. Otherwise, if you want a saw to tinker with or to add to a collection of vintage, its probably a reasonable buy. Parts may be difficult to come by however.
  14. The HBOS call centre is open till 8pm weeknights and on Saturdays too, and you get to speak to a real (scottish) person too. The advantage with the call centre is that they do actually know their stuff, and they are usually pretty efficient too. I also have a "relationship manager" but i havent spoken to her since she refused to give me dating advice......

When you find some let me know. And I'm not talking about claptrap about splicing being a "modification" of the rope thereby invalidating the CE mark either, as a local loler inspector tried to tell me recently.
  16. I do have an overdraft, but I have never used it. The only reason I have it was to show a certain level of available funds for my O licence application. I certainly wont be renewing it if they want me to pay for it. It is a sad fact of modern life that the best way of getting a good deal from banks is to switch your account every time the introductary offers run out.
  17. They are all rubbish. I'm with HBOS, they havent been too bad but the charges just keep going up. I was with Alliance & Leicester, I can honestly say that was the worst banking experience of my life.
  18. Thanks, I love those classic Homelites.

    There are no rules.
  20. Havent worn a wrist watch since I started tree work. If my phone stopped telling me the time I'd probably get something like this
  21. I must be missing something here, how did you work out how much of that £250 was hosting and how much was the design?
  22. Yes, "Creosote Substitute". About as much use as a chocolate hedgehog in a balloon factory. They nearly banned the sale of used railway sleepers with the same legislation, on the grounds that they had been treated with the dread substance.....
  23. 1. You cant buy creosote from B&Q or anywhere else for that matter. 2. Creosotes do indeed build up in your chimney as a result of burning wet wood.
  24. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uSoB092ng0]YouTube - Powerlines Cause Tree Fire & Explosion[/ame] From the way it stops then restarts suddenly I'd say its the fuse tripping, then resetting. Good example of why you should never assume a line is dead....
