Ok, think i have the answer. The foley conversions are 6x4, but the 3rd axle is engaged when required with an air locker.

Accurate id of poplar is difficult to say the least. As they hybridise readily there are many naturally occuring hybrids that look very similar to the parents. I do have the BSBI handbook of willows and poplars if you want to borrow it Dean.

Nissan dont make anything bigger than the cabstar. The Canter is a Mitsubishi, dont know if they do a 4x4 version but from the 4x2 ones I'v driven, I dont think they would make a good off road vehicle.

Locks the two axles together like a diff lock, but over two axles. Without it the back wheels will just loose traction and spin in soft ground, as all the weight of the vehicle will be on the middle axle with the stiffer springs.

white card, there is a code for tree surgeons, just look it up on their website. The easist way to do it is through Skills Direct, ring them up and they will do the rest for you. The total cost of card plus test is £42 whether you use them or not.

Do you have a budget to stick to, or is that a dirty word at city of london? Hydraulic winch would be my choice, I'm sure there will be plenty of drooling landy buffs here very shortly, as soon as they have finished polishing their knobs etc.

HGV training firms are very well organised, you can get your class 2 licence in under a week, once you've had the medical and done the thoery test etc... The training and test is fairly challenging, but its good fun.

Its been a while, thankfully, but I'm sure they have obvious collars. As for removing dead, any time of the year should be fine.
