  1. Nandina?
  2. Ah, in that case I have worked with the gentleman in question and would also recommend him, although I havent known him quite as long as Andy!
  3. Does he drive a BMW?
  4. I dont know, when are you ever out cutting without a combi spanner? I find the quick release air filter cover on the 441 quite tricky to get off without a screwdriver anyway....

    Pop pollard

I managed to flatten a section of the low fence with a big lump of stem, second to last piece. One big section I rigged back into the garden from right out over the field missed the shed by millimetres too, groundie got a bit excited and let it go a bit too far! Other than that it was fairly incident free.

I like that idea. It was that windy, the chip would have just blown straight back to the yard!

I'm happy to report I didnt drag a single stick. Wheeled a few logs out on the sack barrow. It was quite tight to get that around the corner, let alone anything else. It would be a squeeze for a wheelie bin, for some reason they dont have them out here in the fens.
  8. Nice day for windy pops! Good work.

I like to get some weight off the rigging point, not generally too bothered about anything else. That tree had stood in that exposed windy spot for at least 50 years, so I reckon it was probably used to it!

That would have been a 2 cut jobbie in Queens Park Instead it was a 2 day rig a thon. Oh well, it all brings in the pennies.

The wind was about 35 degrees, gusting up to 45 degrees. If you dont know what a 45 degree wind is, you've never worked in one!

Believe it or not, I think you would have struggled getting the little green machine in round the corner. The alley was exactly 3 feet wide, with a right angled turn in it. Nowhere to put the chip in a tiny garden anyhow. The farmer wanted £200 for access over his land. Everything was lowered except for about 10 discs off the bottom, when riggin down flippin great lumps would have compromised the shed. I dont do lowering small bits.... The irony of the big V seems to be lost on the client........................ .............until I nip back tonight and carve two fingernails at the top!

View from the top. You can just about see Ely cathedral.
  14. Big hybrid poplar, small garden, long drag. Very windy.
  15. Along the Marriot golf course? Yes, I'm interested.
  16. Which road is it? I have done some roadside work in Worsley.....
  17. With you. I have seen a similar technique using 2 ropes.
  18. You can run out of the second rope Will, I think thats what Steve is getting at. It would have to be less then half the length of the first rope, so its unlikely, but still possible.
  19. I think so. I await confirmation from a more experienced fungi identifier...
  20. Think they were turkeys. Council owned street trees.....
  21. I'v done it with a flap disc on a small grinder. Gotta use a light touch though!
  22. You need to upload the vid to youtube first, then embed it here.
  23. Cool. You'll be glad to know that the truck is empty (of diesel) and full (of woodchip). Haha.
  24. How did it go then Steve?
