  1. Friction saver, looks nice but the cross over got slightly caught causing a small lumpy section, I may redo it.
  2. I agree, lovely rope to splice and even better to climb on!
  3. Yes they are the right instructions.
  4. Got the chance to use my RC2000 yesterday on this little Blue Atlas Cedar, small tree but heavy timber, I am well pleased with the device, just half a wrap of the rope to lower the timber, very smooth and easy to let the pieces run away from the climber.
  5. Splicing old rope, especially 16 strand is one sure way of putting you off splicing, beg or buy some new rope, I can send you some Marlow double braid that Bob gave me, as for fids a wire fid is probably of most use, you can buy them from Nod at Treeworker or you can make your own, they are made from piano wire, here is a picture of two of my fids one a Brian Toss Wand the other a wire fid from Nod. PM your address for the rope.
  6. I used to go before the big fence but I'm not fond of spending four days standing in ankle deep mud in the pissing rain, I can do that at work.
  7. I have been told the ground rent for retailers etc is pretty high, maybe that's not such a great idea especially in the current economic climate. I agree with the food/drink situation also, you have a captive market but that should not be a excuse to take advantage of the working man.
  8. OK so it may not be Phytophthora quercina but the dead tree is an Oak and the symptoms lent heavily towards Phytophthora, the client would like to replant, maybe, so what's the form for replanting, old soil removal, new soil, don't bother or maybe there is a resistant man made mutant super Oak?
  9. I understand that Windows movie has the rotate option. Playing Video in Windows Media Player Or you could use this software although I have had sound conversion problems using this software in the past.Free Video Flip and Rotate - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com
  10. Ah, sorry, I would love to tell the whole story here but that's not what the forum is about unfortunately and believe it or not, I would be moderated if I was foolish enough to try, as it is I am skating on pretty thin ice anyway and besides, nobody's really interested, it would be put down as, as the former GM once told me, as "Bitching"
  11. Dark magic Peter.
  12. Pointless? Well maybe to you but to myself, Dave and others it's all very relevant and still catches in the throat ten years down the line, but no your probably right, it's all pointless, "Stay in your place" as they used to tell me, in Romania, trouble is, I'm not all that good at watching fools reign. Pointless? 200k investment thrown down the road? Pointless.
  13. The chances of Dave writing a book on his adventures are slim indeed, but I could be wrong, be sure though that Karma has indeed been visited against the GM of the offending company in this fair isle, it took them long enough but he is gone!
  14. I'm waiting for some one to moan about the lock stitching.
  15. Really? It sounds proper pokey, give it an exhaust mod Reg:001_smile:
  16. Very nice.
  17. Hmm, well seeing as I have no comparison I don't really know but it runs very nicely, I'm getting the exhaust finished tomorrow, it's not totally finished yet. But don't mod your own saws it's naughty.
  18. Yup tis the very same saw, spoke to Dave today, your rope should be here tomorrow or maybe Sunday, you know what he's like.
  19. Today's Black Pine behind Westonbirt school, root heave years ago and partly split at the base so it came down so as to save the four Oaks around it from being possibly smashed to bits if it was to fail in any high winds. 441 I just rebuilt, new piston, cleaned the pot up, new diaphragms, modded exhaust, total cost 270 quid, runs a treat! Now I gotta think about doing my basic chainsaw, cross cutting, saw in tree, rigging tickets etc...
  20. Riding the ball is legal I believe but it's really up to the operator/crane company.
  21. I have spliced two used Edelrid 16 strand climbing lines and they were pretty much pain free.
  22. Mare.
  23. Is that the alternative cover taper?
