  1. Rich, good 16 strand video on here Donaghys Industries, Marine - Aquaculture Products – Manufacturers and Distributors, double braid video is very good also, just makes it look ridiculously simple and takes a lot of worry out of the process.
  2. Yeah, I'm sure my bank manager wishes the same.
  3. Thanks for the reply, nice to have you here.
  4. How come, what you doing now?
  5. Ha! That's what you think and so did I but now I find myself in a strange situation, to be able to quote for one of my local authority's I have to refresh All my tickets because I did them, (my tickets) way back in 1994, so this tells me that my working experience means nothing, a newly qualified guy with up to date tickets but no on site experience has priority with the LA over myself. This situation is crazy and loaded with stupidity.
  6. Crossover looks a little loose, very important to get that nice and tight and to put some stitching in there otherwise the bury is even harder to complete, hmm, no lock stitching, it really should have it to prevent any slippage under low loads, in the New England instructions for Tachyon you should taper the purple three strand inner core but I take it out all together, My bet is the splicer who did that really struggled, it's not the easiest rope to splice.
  7. Yes, it's 9mm Marlow Boa, for some reason a delight to splice, unusual for Marlow.
  8. The lunatics really have taken over.
  9. I would do it if it was me.
  10. My friend trained some teams in Papua New Guinea had a blast but would not want to stay and work there.
  11. I am in the middle of re-pollarding 34 large Plane trees and it was hell last Sunday, luckily it's not so bad in the tree but the guys on the ground suffered until the particle masks went on. Wear a mask the stuff is carcinogenic.
  12. Nice one Rupe.
  13. That's the advantage of being human, short memory's.
  14. What's it like to splice?
  15. Well done.
  16. You could probably hoist the chipper off one of those LV cables them being so strong and also very well insulated, although I wouldn't recommend it, I worry a lot less when I am working anywhere near that type of cable.
  17. You don't have to use a Pantin either, I used a old Petzl croll that I had lying around. Steve, I would have used a helicopter.
  18. That's a great offer!
  19. They are, or at least can be, it's up to the retailer many of whom are just salesmen and cannot splice rope or don't because of some unfounded fears, my local retailer even told me once that you can't splice double braid rope! Anyway, learn to splice yourself if you can, Nod from Treeworker provides courses or you could just teach yourself, once you get your head around it it's pretty simple, especially lowering lines.
  20. You gotta love Virgin/Telewest fiber optic cable! I am on the most basic package and it's quick enough, even when I was on half a meg it was still speedy.
  21. Stevie, try this, Smart Defrag - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com
  22. Picus Users - Sorbus International
  23. looks Australian.
  24. Yes you can it's just harder to do. I never had a problem using a fisherman's termination with the HC.
  25. Ha, my mate used to sub for them.
