  1. Yours can tie knots!!!!! If mine could do that they would be asking for at least £30 a day
  2. It's only upright because it's lent into the crown of the tree:001_tongue:
  3. Please tell me that's photo shopped:scared1:
  4. I'll be still working with trees no doubt- where I have no idea. That will be the adventure
  5. I usually do that by doing my boots up:001_tongue:
  6. Doh- blonde i deffo am at times
  7. Babe's are on the list of "yes yes yes !!!!" if your asking
  8. Welcome YP, where in yorkshire are you?
  9. The formula for our northern gatherings is simple. Location with lots of trees, BBQ, brews and plenty of good company. Keep it simple and get it together- A fun day WILL be had:001_cool:
  10. How the old guy's taught me. Plus it's quicker to dress the stem once it's felled
  11. I agree- when felling for timber the flare is never removed. This also has the advantage of preserving the stem if the stem twists as the fibres will pull downwards into the roots. Nice tidy felling cuts:thumbup1:
  12. Surley the point of risk assesments etc are to assess risk and develop a strategy to effectivley reduce and manage it. For instance on a prune or dismantle I wear type A trousers, however i often wear type C's when working in hedges and have the risk assesments accordingly. In my eye's it's the managment of risk that is the critical issue
  13. As the song says............................ [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyp1tyQ5s1A[/ame]
  14. It would cost alot more than 18k for my arse:scared1:
  15. marlin spike- surley that is weaker than a half hitch due to the tighter bend of the rope? I'd not recomend it. As for not using the running bowline- can you say why
  16. 6 months is quite an age for friction cord of any spec- think of the abuse it gets- i would have issues passing it on age alone. Was it glazed or did it have memory? Pics would be great.
  17. I never see the point in splicing prussic- it's a disposable item. I have worn a piece out since saturday ( harsh abuse) but illustrates my point
  18. What reason was given for faliure and do you have a pic?
  19. That's my set-up. I do contract climb as well as my own work
  20. Some nice delicate pruning for a change. This one even had leaves on it when i finished:001_tt1: It's a variagated beech. The roots had been cooked when a new tarmac drive was installed causind some harsh die-back. However it is in good vigour so it's canopy recovered very well, many of the seemingly dead branches recovered, flushing with new leaf. So a nice symathetic crown clean was the way forward, including the removal of any reverted growth. Nice climbing despite it been really slippy towards the end
  21. Looks like the Komet wire-core. They seem to be supplied with a screwgate as standard. Confusing when krab is not to standard and as per best practice there is no cuttable link
