    So many factors to consider. Degree of rot/decay, stability, necessity to rig etc My judgement is on a tree by tree basis

    Is this going to be a process? As in will you continually reduce the tree each time reducing it's crown size and hopefully maintain a viable canopy?

    Do you think that the painstaking effort of cornet cutting of each limb, compared to crude reduction with tears etc makes any diference in the patterns of regrowth and vigour?

    Surley we have to be both? My lack of buissness knowledge and experiance have presented with me with my greatest challenge. It is only through my learning of these skills, and guidance ( thanks- you know who you are) that my small biz now stands a chance of achieving, rather than limping through. Each skill, without the other puts you at a distinct disadvantage.

    Unfortunatley the weather did not hold, the wind shut us down early on tues, after being borderline for a couple of hours. The last pick was at about 6.45pm yesterday in the wind and rain. Tim - step cuts on the verticle sections, i'd be tempted to use a single cut next time as it would perhaps make seperation smoother

    It was slung with chains, I switched to slings on the 2nd day which i found more managable. The biggest lift was a 5.3 ton stem, i think the biggest top was a little under 2.5.

    A few pics fom this weeks job, working for big-amer (Nigel). My first crane job and i loved it. the job was 5 hybrid100ft plus poplars to fell in 2 days. The learning curve was steep, and my adrenal gland worked overtime on ocassions, especially when the wind picked up. We had a 50ton crane the first day and a 60 the 2nd, so plenty of lift and the limiting size to the picks tended to be the size of my kahunas:scared1: More pics to follow......................
