You’ve called that one wrong fella...

TVI IS a barrel of laughs, clever, funny, sometimes silly and sometimes serious but never offensive nor overly sensitive, although sometimes exasperated and frustrated by others opinions. All that and still up for a banter.

An all round good :egg: and a big part of the rich tapestry of AT - IMHO

Why does a nomark, who as far as I can see has contributed very little to the site, feel they its ok to come out with this kind of thing?

Utterly pathetic

No one mentioned the reason for the large nos of "overpaid" agency staff working for the NHS.

To cover for the permenant staff who are off sick.

Plus expensive operating theaters and highly paid consultants, should be working 24/7, not lying empty while the consultants golf from 12:00 Friday through a long weekend.

Our local hosp is a mixed bag, the x-ray dept is very, very  well run, but the cleaning staff and porters are a bunch of workshy feckers, this info from a bloke who worked there as a porter briefly, but long enough to see the pattern,  before getting a job on the railways.

N.B.

And my previous employer is now giving very recently promoted managers(with 10k pay increases), a generous retirement packages, based on their recent pay upgrades/promotions, and  this as part of a cost-saving exercise.

And no doubt in due course the Directors who "managed" this debacle, will get generous golden handshakes, to go early.

EDIT

I intended to say the "overpaid" Agency staff merely reflect the true "cost-to-employ" incl HR and management overheads and other hidden costs, all too often the reports choose to compare the bare hourly rate paid to the NHS staff member with the Agency rate, "forgetting" about selection and recruitment costs, training costs, sick costs, holiday  pay, pension contributions and indeed their(that is the NHS's) grossly inefficient HR/payroll management costs.

Which gives an entirely different figure

The NHS is simple too big.

Yep too big and too complicated for anyone to efficiently manage. Not sure I want it broken up though as in spite of it's failings has served my family very well in recent problematic times.

Did I?

Well every statement I make he seems to want to have a passive aggressive pop at me. Last time I checked I wasn't that egregious...

Perhaps it's just me.. Long day yesterday. We'll see..

It’s a mistake I’ve never really learnt from, well, I have learnt it, but the realisation only tends to hit me some time after the impulsive reaction has blurted out first... ? (hoping pubity will pass before dementia sets in and provides the next excuse for being an outspoken hothead!)

The people that make me want to react impulsively are the ones that generally have the most credible counter point to make.

Loike, there’s no point having a debate / discussion / argument with someone that agrees with you ?it’s got nowhere to go, just as well sit quietly in contentment.

(I must be in an uncharacteristicly cheery mood....? Could it be the planned visit to “Gnome world” today?  Don’t panic, it’s not a gnome fetish, it’s just that that is the venue for a demo day??)
