With Sonia swap rates at over 5%, mortgages will soon be 7%. 
 

as with all percentages, it depends how small the original number is. The base rate has risen by well over 1000%, but then again, it was 0.1% for a while.

Regardless of where they get built, I'd say we need an urgent rethink on the standard of new built homes. Even before seeing this I'd never be persuaded to buy a modern house.
