A local chap  was employed to litter pick the local common, he was refused access to the county council run civic amenities site because it had become commercial waste since he was paid. In fact as the litter was discarded on land open to the public it was the county council's responsibility to clear it  so the charity employing him were saving the county council from discharging their duty.

Them’s the ‘rules.’

Rules written by idiots and implemented by morons.

Yep its a crazy old world, some time last year, some guys were riding on bikes from Lands End to John O'groats, raising money for charity. One of their planed food stops was a Mac'ds. They arrived in the middle of the night, in much need of sustenance. But the restaurant was closed, drive through only, but they could not use the drive through, as they were not in a car. They were sent away hungry.

If the manager had any sense, he’d have taken them through in his car for free publicity.

They seem more outraged by the fly tipping rather than the outlandish cost charged to clear it up.

That sums it up nicely, she even tried to justify the cost because a wagon and two operatives were involved in this major environmental clean up!

I asked her if she would be happy to pay £800 of her own money to have that amount of rubbish taken away... she never answered.

there is an easy way to stop the public servant stupidity.

At present its not possible for their employer, us, to sack one of them. Change this and the problem would be sorted.

Would need to be fair so if a taxpayer suffered idiocy from a public servant they could issue notice for their sacking, the sackee would have recourse to a tribunal of 3 tax payers chosen at random (all public servants excluded) to determine their fate. If its a particular egregious case of idiocy then the tribunal could take their pension as well.
