Making the news today....

The point isn't will we run out of oil, its what happens after we reach a peak in world oil production, or when it becomes apparent that no amount of investment will increase production to meet demand..

In a nutshell, the expert opinion seems to be that that peak will be reached by 2040.. by then will have reached peak demand/peak oil..

The skeptics think it will reach a peak long before that..

My concern isn't the amount of oil that might be left after we reach peak oil, but how peak oil, when it becomes evident affects the markets.. Those markets affects our jobs, it affects how people behave...

That tree Mrs Miggins wanted choping down will have to wait when she has other pressing concerns..

Good points but "peak Oil" seems to be pushed back time and time again. Old North Sea Platforms have had their life expectancy more than doubled and only now are being decommissioned. This is not a sign of Peak Oil though as Subsea Wells that are remotely operated are much more common. I install Wells (completions) Upper, middle and Lower that allow you to produce from different zones, say 8 zones. Before 8 zones meant 8 We'll Heads on a Platform, now you can run all these zones from one Subsea Well Head.

I can log in on a PC and remotely operate our Zonal Valves incrementally and choke back or open zones from anywhere in the world. We have real time pressure and temp, flow meters etc etc.

Peak Oil, I'm my opinion is a tool used by the Oil Companies to artificially keep prices inflated. 2040 will come and go like all the other Peak Oil dates and then it will be 2060, 2080 etc etc.

Crude oil is dirty and it's cheap I really can't see

What do you think of this Mr E?

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/southern-rail-train-drivers-set-to-strike-despite-24-pay-rise-offer-pgcr82dlq

Rejected a 24% (11k) pay rise over 4 years and a 4 day week...

Fat end of £60k pa for driving a train...

Fair play to them. £60k is not that much these days people are just so used to ever diminishing wages and settle for less.
