Assuming, as it seems, that block had a high racial & ethnic mix, and if we accept that these people are "the most vulnerable and economically deprived" in our society, then the stance that immigration provides a net gain to the economy must be inaccurate? Both parts can't be true??

It's only the BBC that thinks immigration is a boost to the UK.... Anyone that actually looks at the evidence will conclude that immigration does little for the economy or living standards...

Behave yourself Matelot, where would the inner city labour vote be without them? :) Also the term "immigrant" covers a broad spectrum , we have migrant workers, asylum seekers and those just along for a better life. Cant be tarred with the same brush because some of them do benefit the economy.

I think very few of them benefit the economy... Say you're right though, the UK is a wealthy country, should we not be charitable and give the migrants to countries that are poor?

If I was in charge of immigration it would only be fit birds aged 18-30 getting in.
