Tough call Adam but I'm sure you are strong enough to deal with whatever comes your way. Life is full of surprises and we are constantly confronted with new obstacles to cross and new goals to achieve. See it as a new exciting unknown chapter in your life and it will all work out. Best of luck dude. :001_smile:

Don't think you can get a better qualified answer than that!

Well said Sean.

I'm really saddened to read this bro, but at the same time totally understand where you're coming from, having discussed various long term injuries with you.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience in teaching me loads, and for generally being a good mate who's always there with a perverted text when I need him!

Whatever path you choose I'm sure you'll do well, and one day maybe enjoy climbing again when you're not grinding it out every day.

Please stay on Arbtalk when you become a fat porn star.

All the best.

Must be hard for you writing that Adam, as its obvious you love the industry and followed your dads footsteps with being a climber and its a huge part of you. being a contract climber is hard on your body and i guess you cant do it forever so the time has to come at some point to change paths.

Id also like to see you becoming a teacher you've got so much skill to teach and your so passionate about the industry and pushing it forward it seems the perfect route for you.

Rubbish. You're too young for Arthritis and too good at what you do to leave the industry!

Mind you, if you do leave there'll be one less better climber than me in the UK.

How old are you mate? It was pretty gutting reading that, since you seem to be at the top of your game and really passionate about it. Are there any treatments that might help you? I got the impression there was more to your post than just physical problems.

You could always get a job with one of the prestigious training company's, getting paid a bundle teaching spotty know I talks how to climb, and occasionally climbing the really good trees in the country when you fancy it!

Adam, I can appreciate where you're at right now, You're a climber and that's what you do. But when the body starts to indicate that you can't keep abusing it, the day to day wear and tear catches up and says enough's enough, you need to take heed.

I've had thirty years at it and I know what it does. I'm guessing that you've something in the pipeline and I hope it's still within the industry in some shape or form. Best of luck in whatever you decide.
