Why shouldn't a gardener do a bit of tree work, or put a fence up etc?

Same with any other trade... We get what we can when we can.

Jack of all master of none.... From personal experience they should not get involved because the work is often carried out to a poor standard and dangerously, put the ladders down eggs.

Of course Dave there is nothing wrong with that until it brings in more legislation in training, pushes insurance up and more legislation in the work place which then effects us trying to be in business... Every other week I'm reading reports about accidents in Arb and they appear to be nearly all by apparent experts who are gardeners !!

The customers who choose gardeners to 'prune' their trees, 'generally' get what they have paid for and deserve.

I got a call last night from an old client after receiving our quote, saying we were too expensive. During my quote visit last week he told us that last time we did the work he was delighted but still used someone else the next time - who made a hash of it:lol: but they were cheaper:biggrin:

The irony of it.

Had similar . Quoted to clear a wind thrown tree . We were tooo expensive . " my gardener will do it " 2 weeks later " can you come and sort this mess " ? Tree down across lawn , mountain of brash all too short and pointing every which way and several failed cuts at logging the trunk . It cost him more because of the aggravation factor but , we got other work as well . No sign of the gardener...:001_smile:

Why has it got to be jack of all master of none. Can't people be multi skilled?

Do you repair your own saws, chipper, service your own vehicles or do you send them all away to be repaired, serviced?

Put ya shovel down Matty.
