Fings wot broke

I checked the half shafts and they looked fine, unfortunately Merc only sell them with the wheel bearings, for crazy money. The van doesn't get a lot of use and isn't earning any money so i'm trying not to spend too much on it. (Just had a £220 alternator too.) The pinion bearings showed very little wear/damage, but the diff side bearings were the trashed ones. They've been worn for a while (diff knock on gear changes) but only whined last time i used the van. The synchros aren't great so i need to learn gearbox rebuilding sometime..

I have that grease, from Febi. About 15 quid a pot but well worth it. I use it for both injectors and glowplugs.

Good eye knowing what diff it was! Is it Daf you work for?

No i work for Hanson, formerly Castle Cement, had Volvo, Erf, Daf, Merc, Renault over the years. Yeah synchro’s are poor, cable change doesnt help em! Apparently there a mega amounts of “special tools” required to do the gearboxes 🤷‍♂️ not done any myself, and the gears are of a weird metal? Very expensive too, struggle getting em (waiting times) even before covid and now wartime so god knows what stuffs like to get hold of these days! Tbh, for the cost vs down time and stress i’d just bang em in to a gearbox specialist and av done. Always fit new cables though if you have box out for repairs, they wear and stretch so that’ll have knock effects if you put back new with old! D2s been in the shed a few weeks with no air in the suspension, meaning I've been back to using my ranger for everything🥴😕

Had a few minutes this morning,  turns out it was just a blown compressor, completely full of mud! Stuck a spare on, seems to be OK 12 hours later🤞🤞

Seen quite a few with the crack between the mounting screw turrets, not with the chunk missing. The heat causes expansion and eventually cracks the underside of the muffler like in your case.

Someone left the little valtra door open, then tried to reverse the Ranger/tipping trailer alongside ready to chip. Apparently the truck wasn't going backwards well so they put it in 4wd low box and gave it some, resulting in the door being ripped off and the windows shattered onto a stock field. Worse still it was a doorless 90min drive home at the end of the day.

Not popular!

Congrats.,I've yet to get one if those things to work!

Cheers, that was on a kubota oc95, which I think you have a few of.

The screw extractors have quite a course thread, the ones I've had less success with in the past have a finer thread.

Drilled a small pilot hole, then a slightly bigger hole, both with left hand drill bits just incase it caught. Put the screw extractor in, few taps in with a hammer, attach tap wrench handle (so you can apply even pressure), then cross fingers and clench buttocks!!
