Didn't he notice truck wasn't pulling well.

I have done it myself on a trailer full of logs, you just think to yourself ‘it’s uphill or a big load’ before you know it the damage is done

Flat tyre day before loading logs then the grab got a bit beat up loading this last trailer 😂

Will be a mix of welder and plasma cutter on the grab so it's back in fettle for another beating soon 😎

Just underlines how essential it is in this trade to be able to use spanners etc. I have come across some guys who are great at climbing but have no mechanical nouse. OK I suppose if you don't want to run your own show.

lot of folk cant listen to a machine or feel it when its not right.

Dont get me wrong some stuff is down right abuse but in this line of works, everything gets battered every day! during the course of its work. Hard work on the machines so the person using needs to be up to scratch

So true. Over the years I have seen too many guys operating kit with what I call "mechanical contempt" on a bad day, or "lack of mechanical awareness" on a not so bad day. "Well I was feeding the brash into the chipper and chippings were coming out the other end". "Did you not think the unusual noise and smoke were telling you something?"

Knowing how a machine runs and works is key in this business, if it brakes down you need it fix for the next day or on that day to finish job. Only the other day switch packed up on eclectic supply to 6 way valve to work grab and rotator on little loader. So I pulled wires from work light on boom and wire 6 way valve to it and used light switch instead.
