It's not about insurance for me it's about not wanting money back off the state. I want to and do provide for myself and my family.

I'm happy enough to pay my taxes and ni etc. I believe in the safety net. But I don't believe that you should rely on it for too long. It's about what can I do not what can't I do.

Work is out there if you want it enough.

it's about no being beholden (government )to someone else to provide for me.

OK, I think you should get a job in Lourdes as you think everyone can be cured, can i have an appointment please?

I suppose we must have missed the saints johnny two jags and teflon tony saving the poor and down trodden of our society then? Just before they sold off half the countries gold reserves and dropped the country into a recession.

Some people's memory's make goldfish seem like elephants mate.

When ever I go to the doctor there is a notice in the waiting room stating the number of missed appointments the previous month its always up near 100. People that not only fail to attend their appointments, but could not be bothered to phone and cancel

Just another example of those who feel entitled, rather than appreciative.

At our doctors we have not had to wait 2-4 weeks for an appointment? You call up and speak to a doctor and depending how serious they think you are determines how quick you will be seen. I called last summer after being bitten by something and was told to come right down. When I had tonsillitis I was told to rest and drink plenty of fluids and if not better in a few days to get back in touch or if I felt worse to get in touch straight away. Each time we have called about our son who is 2 we have been seen within an hour. I can't speak highly enough for our local NHS.

Seriously? Would you prefer a USA style health service? So if you break your leg you stoically soldier on with stiff upper lip rather than turn to what should be our proudest institution.

Tbh, I wouldn't mind. If you pay for healthcare through tax or insurance it doesn't make much difference...

Of course with the American system we wouldn't pay for third world HIV victims...
