Things always carry on pretty much as they are, sooner or later they balls up one way or another, regardless of which party, things were good under labour late 90/early 20.

If the conservatives take us out of Europe I think it will be their big bollock drop, I fully expect to get scorn poured on me, just my opinion.

Labour DOUBLED!! public spending, how did they ever think that was sustainable?????

I agree on the Europe thing but I do think we should have the choice via referendum as a country. Then live with the outcome whatever it may be.

I've been sick and unemployed; didn't claim a penny; the state doesn't owe me, paid into or not.

 

 

But if you had to through no fault of your own I don't think you should be treated as some sort of social leper, I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford sickness/accident insurance, but I don't think any less of someone that would have to rely fully on the safety net we have in this fantastic country

Yes we have to live with it till the next election and see what the Tories make of it. They already gave all the millionaires a £100,000 tax break and cut the NHS by back door means giving contracts to their contributors. In 2007 I had cancer and was treated within two months, now it takes me 3 weeks to get an appointment to see a doctor as there are less of them. Where do they stand on helping the working man, they are only interested in big business and banks and anyone who thinks they will do anything for people like us is deluded.

exactly:001_smile: one thought occurred to me with all the horrible accidents that i have seen reported on A.T over the years i think it would be very wise for members to consider heavily investing in injury/chronic/critical illness/loss of earnings ect insurance cover as if you don't you are in real danger of becoming a Scrounger!

Today I voted for the second time and lost a lot of faith in not only the electoral system but a lot of AT members too.

Some of the anti Tory posts on here are laughable, really laughable. You can't argue with the vote or would you rather the vote went on till you got what you wanted?

 

 

The way many of you a bleating on you would think they had won with a huge majority, they will be very limited as to what they can do, their majority is tiny, they will need a great deal of support from other parties to make any changes.

 

So things will pretty much carry on as they are and things will slowly continue to improve.

 

I'm not sure what planet some of you guys live on, but your experience appears to bare very little resemblance to mine.

If people would take some responsibility for their own mental / physical health rather than blame everyone but themselves, hospitals would be empty, wouldn't need such a massive drain on the welfare state.

The problem with the health and benefits system are the shitebags who abuse it, and yes, far too much deadwood in management.

 

As for the EU, I honestly don't know enough to tell you whether we're better in or out.

Are the public really qualified to make that decision?

I generally detest Euro poliicies, but I'm just an alcoholic northern tree cutter.
