Hitch climber with murderous intentions?

Hi all,

 

Having a bit of an issue with my newly acquired hitch climber, maybe someone can help?

 

When pulling down on the tail of the rope to take in slack when body thrusting, I often find the VT gets jammed under the splice of the rope end (big red arrow in pic) and jams open rather than gripping the rope.

 

This seems less than desirable as it will surely be only a matter of time before I plummet to a painful death far below...

 

I can't imagine this is how it is intended to work??

 

Edit - The pic is off google, not my actual setup but of course it is pretty much identical.

Agree with all the above , hitch cord is too long , too thick and in the wrong hole .

 

He did say he got the pic of Google and it's not he's actual set up.he needs to put pic up or describe his own set up. But yes middle hole on PULLY in any case.
