The transit needs to have the C rating on the tyre`s . I had some AT tyres on a cabstar years ago that failed its MOT because of this. They do need to be of the correct load rating which narrows choice down a bit. Remoulds will be ok on the rear`s but I would never fit them to a steering axle.

I've just fitted some Hankook M+S on the rear of my transit. I tip off at a farm where you have to go up a very muddy incline to the chip pile, normally it spins and snakes it way up and barely makes it, with the new tyres on I just drove up no trouble at all! I live in sheffield which is just hills so they will come in handy this winter I'm sure. Will also leave a bit of chip in when it snows to add weight to the back axle.

Mud terrain would be your best best as they can be used all year round where As winter tyres are specifically for winter or temps under 7degrees. Once the weather rises to above the 7 degrees point they have no advantages

Not quite...

Winter tires tend to be better than summer ones under wet and/or slippery conditions up to 15-20℃ (-ish, depends on make etc). Whilst they offer dry weather grip of levels lower than summer tires most accidents that involve skidding happen in the wet.

Which makes a better case for running winter tires year round than summer ones.

16" easier to find than 15" which my '94 banger runs on, had an old Newton Abbott 4x4 mk2 transit tipper that had 16" rims and I put camacs mt s on it never got stuck (and wish I never got shot of it:()

Would you not destroy them quicker in a long dry spell ? Similar to a racer fitting full wets coz its raining at the start but stops very soon and a dry line appears and the wets get trashed in few laps ......
