log grab info

is anybody using 1, of these grabs ,just after some info what ther like etc

The lower forks dont look that strong as they are thin. Poke it under a log pile, crowd the grab back before clamping the top beak down could well bend the lower forks. Done it myself with a well known grab that has what looks like standard fork lift arms, ironically I have used fork lift arms for years and never bent one, bent both on this grab within a few days use.

 

Have a look that the thickness here, LG 050 or LG100 depending on what you want to attach it to. This is the way to go. LG050 has Hardox tines, suspect teh 100 has thicker tines. To thick to hold a bag open though.

Depends what your lifting, ie lots of small softwood or large hardwood buts.

A single centre claw is good for going into heaps of softwood as tends not to wreck the rest of the stack but 2 independent top arms are better for uneven big hardwood trunks.

I've found if the bottom arms are too long it's easy to dig into the ground or catch on stumps and bend things, the most important thing is the strength of the ram that clamps the top down so you can hold and drag stuff without it opening.

The outher 1 he has for sale looks quite a handy bit of Kit as well for lifting stacking and skidding!

I bought a timber trailer from Mark at Ryetec and he is a top bloke - if you have any issues (and I very much doubt you will) he will sort them straight away. I would imagine he has one of those grabs in the yard that you can have a play with before deciding whether to buy or not.

I can second that bought a processor of mark last jan top guy to deal with.

I would guess that both Rytec and Riko will be exhibiting at LAMMA in January at Peterborough ( think 22nd and 23rd ) and poss others Riko usually put on a good show from alpine tractors to grabs and arms etc . Nowt like looking at one in the flesh to see how well its made .
