No machinery today…. Only manpower.

 

Half the tree crapped itself as it split in two and took out the power line and went into a stream.

 

That was a while back.  Today we had to rig down the still standing side.  Cable and a couple of outbuilding to avoid so we rigged everything back into the woodland.

This lime was a maiden that I started a pollard cycle in 2008 ish.

First two pics (with blue pick up) are of its first ‘repollard’ in 2015.

Last three are today’s job.

The original couple I worked for are deceased, so their three sons use it as a holiday home, which has a nice continuity to it.

Almost certainly the last time in this tree.

In a way it isn’t, at least for the purists who think pollards should be started at an early age, this started as a topping/reduction.

But very little, if any, rot in the pollard heads, so all good for the moment.
