Would have been interesting to get some sort of reading on the force it took rich

 

Well we did ask the farmer and in true farmer fashion he responded the JD was on tick over... ;)

 

David, it was definitely a good call. Yes the tree fell in the direction of the hedge row and onto a log pile but I think that was just a bit of luck. We were prepared to pruned up the sides of the other trees if on of the stems rolled into that. There was also included bark on the 2nd union up so we installed the pull line to pull the stems together.

 

Who is to say where it would have gone if nature had taken its course. Even though it is on a farm, the track is well used by farm traffic, shooters, dogg walkers and horsey people.

Big beech dismantle today as it had been severely undermined by the river, most of the crown had to be rigged back into the wood to avoid ending up in what turned out to be quite deep water just off the bank side, client wanted to avoid more erosion so had to go before it ended up in the river and no real way to get a decent winch in to fell it and wanted to avoid damaging the remaining trees.
