I think you have just got to look at it like this, your 16 just starting off. If you earn £100 from doing it in your spare time bonus! It should only take 1/2 to 3/4 of a day by the discription though depends what tools you have & how quick you are.

It's just a general Idea. I don't wont to rip him off because he's A friend because I don't know how to price things. But then again I don't wont to do It for nothing because he's my dads friend :) If he's not happy with my quote I will just say get someone to quote it and I will cut 10% or 20% off.

Thanks for reply guys, Nice to see people helping out the younger generation.

There's a phrase to describe that kind of sneaky behaviour and it rhymes with 'stunts thick'.

Charge what you are happy to make that day plus expenses.

Jobs a good 'un.

Chap,

If it for a friend then I do this.

Its cash right?

Sorted.

So I calculate my costs per hour then add my wedg and give them an hourly rate with a VAGUE estimate.

Be Ballsy about it!

Don't mess around, tell'em!

My prices often include a feed at lunch too.

Watch out for those stumps, conifer stumps can be notorious for being really tuff perhaps get someone else with a stump grinder to complete that bit.

Stump Grinding can go screw it self. last week I had half term so I thought I would be the only one on my course and work all week, Bunch of good for nothing layabouts I learn with :), But yer, All week I was Digging out stump grindings, Hard wood, Nice and chunky, Soft wood, Nice and stringy. I did 6 trees. They wonted everything gone, even the earth. So I think I will leave it before I do anymore.

I didn't us the grinder if anyone thinks my company is pants :)

I think the point Mark was making was that it won't appear very professional if the local companies find out that you've been purposely undercutting them. Especially if you are a young lad starting out, you could be burning bridges that you might need later on in your career.

Just my opinion though!!

(Ps, With regard to the job, I agree with Hama!!)
