More likely something has been ingested and bouncedaround the exhaust port a few times before exiting.

I'd tend to agree. Carb butterfly screw I bet

Don't know..... I would say a screwdriver as a stop. Ingesting carb parts usually end up smacking the inlet side of the piston skirt or being thumped numerous times in to the combustion chamber. I would say it is the screwdriver as a piston stop. Inspection of the carb should show if it is complete or not!

Oddly Mick, its only in the last five years I have carried reading glasses fr saw sharpening - definately getting worse , and my palms seem a bit hairy now too ...... K

I will be looking at replacing the carb as well, so I will pull it apart when I get a new one.

Either way the piston and barrel need replacing.

How long did it take to remove? Got the clutch to do on mine next week and think it’ll be easier to take the engine out rather than drop gearbox. Plenty of access but with no post lift it would be a trolley jack job and shed floor isn’t the smoothest!

Best part of a day on my own with engine crane and trolley jack. Did the clutch 18mths ago took engine out to do much easier as gravity helping you and easier lump to move around/balance. The gearbox/transfer box is bloody awkward to line up correctly with engine from underneath if you don't have the correct cradle

Spent today fixing MS201s, one with the remains of a screwdriver in the combustion chamber which was a relatively simple fix for an uneducated owner, one 201 looked like it had come out of the village pond and then stated porting a Makita DCS5030 - should go well once done.

Just got one of those extendable Stihl pole cutters in. Fortunately, I have done a few now so don't let them intimidate me now

Took seat box and floor out on my SII , poked engine crane in thru door, still took over a day , but later models maybe different, K
