Presumably they're pushed up with a loader bucket. I wish we could get away with that, we cut a pile like that in the summer years ago but with our weather it was white with mold by the time it came to selling and we had to sort the whole lot by hand.

Do you leave your logs in the boxes when they go on the drying floor, or do you tip them out?

We leave them in boxes in a heated shed, there's fans at the back to push air under and through them.

Looks very neat. So is that a heated shed or a kiln? If it's a heated shed how do you heat it. Thanks

I call it a heated shed but it's the same principal as a kiln. It's insulated and there's radiators and heat exchangers on the walls powered by a chip boiler.

So how are sales going?

We have had a great start and our driest logs ever thanks to this incredible weather.

We've had a couple of air frosts in Surrey; last Monday morning I think it was the flat roof at the back of the house was white, along with the top of the neighbour's conny hedge.

Ours started mid August but no idea what brought it on. Surly customers are not realising winter is coming before it gets cold!
