There was a whole village wiped out by the Nazis in one day, just down the road from me, a local Hotel that is credited with taking in and repatriating RAF pilots that had been shot down, so it would seem likely that the resistance was pretty active in my location.

I quoted at the very beginning it was not intended to derail the thread. The similarities between the two examples of people changing history have been mentioned before not just by myself along with the incredible amount of people in post war France that claimed to be active with the resistance when in reality it was a tiny percentage of the population. Keep your totally unwarranted, incorrect and not needed get a grip advice for those whom panicked,complied meekly and defended the restrictions etc etc vociferously. if the cap fits wear it. I’ll leave it at that.

If I had a picture I would try an bring the thread back on track with a photo my 303 SMLE. It's newish to me but well over a century old and I often wonder what it got up to in its earlier years. It's also good fun to shoot, if a little expensive these days.
