What you're saying makes sense eggs. Never really thought about it on a countrywide scale before, it seemed viable in the rural location I'm used to because nowhere in the region is big enough to have more than one post office. Think it was probably my dad that told me.

I’m not saying it’s wrong Doug, a rural post office is possibly classed as a well known landmark, after all most of them were grand buildings, not like the post office counters of today. When you get into big towns and cities you need a notional centre point, which very often isn’t the centre of the area.

F*ck me

I have a similar logo carved into the stone on my house, I had always thought it was a mason's mark.

 

Turns out it's listed on that site as a benchmark!!
