In the current financial climate any income that is not raped by the system is more than welcome in my book. I’d say the amount of people taking cash is still very very high. In particular with loads of timber where  cash really does talk.

I get asked all the time cash or bank transfer cash is king every time.

I’m with you all the way on this one, unfortunately the vast majority of my work is for other companies, so very few cash jobs. Hey ho, still getting a living.

Most builders and trades guys i know all do cash work unless its a contractor they work for and the tax man knows nothing about it.

That’s my point, I mainly work for main contractors, or subbed into them, so not a lot of cash changing hands.

Is no one else being asked by customers ATM, is it cheaper if i pay cash ?? this last 10/12 mth i seem to of been asked a lot more about cash payments than the last 5 or 6 years, which is just a sign of the times really with every thing around us going up and people just trying to save a few quid here n there,

Cash might be king, but undeclared cash can’t pay your mortgage, bills, car etc.

My partner briefly worked in hmrc investigations and if they get a whiff of you they are relentless.

Your mrs was an Hmrc investigator 🤷‍♂️that’s a thread stopper I’d say. Relentless heartless c…s in my experience.
